Some people blamed field turf when OBJ got injured.
Astroturf started in the 70's. TX, OK, and A&M were among the first ones to get it. But in the 90's schools started taking them out and all 3 schools did. But TX reinstalled theirs but OK and A&M kept theirs. I'm a natural grass man and it really chaps my hide that our 2 most hated rivals didn't change and we did. Then we remodel the field last year and it was obvious they weren't putting grass back in.
Now I've heard excuses that it's hard to grow grass in Memorial Stadium. I've heard they couldn't play high school games when we had grass because it was too hard on the field. I say poo. A grass field can be good for up to 300 hours. Now we play 6 games 3 1/2 hours long that's 21 hours. High school games are at least an hour shorter.
Look we are the richer than crosceous University of Texas. We have way to many hands on alums. Hell they want to be so damn involved with the fb team let's give these Uber wealthy dudes something to do. Have them pitch in for a grass field and pay for the maintenance to. Problem solved and along with working on an NIL organization might keep them away from the fb team which is every coaches dream.
My .02 worth.
