CBS Evening News tonight started with two political stories. First was the "2nd amendment" remark by Trump at his rally. Second was the presence of Orlando shooter father Seddique Mateen at Clinton's rally in Florida.

The Trump story got three and a half minutes of coverage with two reporters covering live from the Trump and Clinton campaigns. We heard from Senator Susan Collins claiming that Trump is "unfit to be president," Clinton campaign manager Robbie Mooks, claiming Trump is "dangerous," VP pick Tim Kaine, who stated that Trump is a "temperamental misfit," and Senator Elizabeth Warren, who claimed Trump is a "pathetic coward" who's afraid of "losing to a girl." There was a mention of a tweet by the NRA supporting Trump, as well as a somewhat ambiguous remark by Rudy Giuliani. The report was closed out by reminding the viewer of past instances in which Trump was accused of inciting violence against protestors.

The Hillary story got twenty seconds of airtime. They showed a still shot of Hillary with Seddique Mateen standing in the background with a voiceover statement from the Clinton campaign saying that Mateen "was not invited" to the rally.

The next story was a two minute segment on the "disarray" within the GOP regarding the reelection of Congressman Paul Ryan and his feud with Trump.

Negative Trump: 5.5 minutes
Negative Clinton: 20 seconds
