I once sent a scathing email to CDC during the Eyes of Texas mess. I’d had a couple of beers too many, and had enough of the nonsense—and like a total jackass, I sent a scathing email late on a Saturday night to the man in charge.
Monday morning, my phone rang, and it was CDC calling to address any concerns I had, and to reassure me that he was going to get it right. I immediately felt like a complete idiot (and I was). I apologized to him for my email, and thanked him for reaching out to me. He certainly owed me nothing—I had been rude to him, and I’m no BMD. I’m just a passionate UT grad and fan (and a total moron in that moment).
Fast forward to now, and holy shit. CDC has built Texas athletics into perennial contenders in nearly every sport. He’s kept a focus on fan experience, he’s hired great coaches—he’s made it fun again.
I’m a small monthly donor to Texas One Fund, and I’m gonna increase it tonight with something for baseball.
Thank you CDC.
