CHIP KELLY IS FIRED

If it wouldn't look politically incorrect to fire Strong I would love to see him here. His spread offense fits what most of the major High Schools in the state run. I like Charlie the man and maybe the new OC changes the offense, but Kelly is proven.

Kelly would be the home run hire we need after the huge bust hire in strong. I've been waiting for his ouster at philly. But since we kept strong we won't get Kelly.

You wouldn't of gotten chip by firing Strong this year unless he pulled a petrino and just left mid season. Couldn't wait til January to hire a coach.

Ok genius, when we did we hire Strong?? In January. There was a month search.

Strong wasn't the first choice either, and you can't say not having a coach while everyone else did didn't hurt us. The only way chip was getting a college job is to leave Philly early. Unless a current coach takes a NFL Job later

Kelly has options. Seems to want to stay in NFL. Cleveland would love him. Miami and Tenn are interested. Mariota connections at Tenn. He said he will just coach and relinquish his biggest failure of player personnel decisions.

Highly doubt UT can hire him today. We just made our changes and I doubt the powers that be would blow it up again weeks later. And most other major colleges have made their hire. Maybe someone starts to talk with him and then axes their coach if they knew they could get him.
If he wanted to get back in to coaching in college and/or the NFL doesn't work out. One could see him taking a TV or consulting role for the upcoming year and then joining an NCAA program next year around this time.

That would make things very interesting. As teams would probably put more pressure on their coaches to perform with him out there and then he would make a bidding war and probably get some schools to fire their coaches preemptively. It would speed up the coaching carousel for a year. There are quite a few major programs that could have openings next year.

Elaborate please.
Phil Knight was Chip's cover at Oregon from the NCAA. Oregon could get away with funny business because NOBODY wants to piss off Nike. Chip will likely chill out for a year and browse the possibilities in the NFL and if he doesn't find a job he likes, he'll likely return to college.

Oregon could get away with funny business because nobody cares and most importantly the NCAA is part of that.

I think if he stays in the NFL it would be right away. Tennessee with Mariota is his dream. Cleveland wanted him bad the first time, but he knew that was career suicide. If he wants the NFL and wants it right away and is a bit desperate, he'll end up there. Miami might be an option. They are thirsty for some O and a splash hire. Indy maybe. If all those teams pass, its going to get a lot tougher for him to find an NFL job next year.

I think if he sits out a year, he then goes back to NCAA. The NFL is fickle. He is either held in high regard or he cools of and they move on to the new hot guys next year. The NCAA is more forgiving. Lose out in the NFL, they'll still hire you at a top job in NCAA and even 5 more jobs you fail at in NCAA...see Charlie Weis. Lose out at the top job, they'll hire you at Kansas or Toledo or Directional U. Win at TCU, Bama will go get you, lose there....ATM will happily take you. On and on. Retreads. And the hot, young guys getting new shots.

We do not want Chip Kelly, he doesn't like the NCAA or dealing with parents. He prefers the NFL and that is where he will end up.
He may prefer the NFL, but it clearly has to be an owner who doesn't mind letting go of virtually all personnel decision control, and so far he's 0-1 in that regard.

At least the next NFL team Kelly lands can spring board off of the expensive learning curve/apprenticeship that Philly paid.
