Chris Beard finalizing deal to be next HC at Ole Miss

Deal inked. It will be interesting to see how he assmbles his coaching staff and if he can repeat the transfer portal success like he did at Texas.

Ole Miss’s record last 3 years
22/23: 12-21
21/22: 13-19
20/21: 16-12

Un-fvcking believable.
In the era of #MeToo you've got a guy that CLEARLY assaulted his female domestic partner. She had bite marks, for God's sake, and that's indisputable. So whether she started it or he started it, it doesn't matter. He's a female abuser. Period.

And the selective outrage and targeting by the vocal virtue crowd on the left tells me one thing and one thing only- not everyone is held to the same standard by those hypocritical little fvck sticks.

We all knew he was going to land another job someone was going to take a risk on him to win. It's still the south and they a little different in ol Mississippi. So now Kiffin and Beard are going to be best buds and we will be seeing Beard again in Texas.

People will say he wasn't charged to try and justify it but you are correct, they selectively pick and choose what they think is right and wrong. I still think letting him go was the right decision though. Should make for some fun future SEC matchups though!

I wonder if he tries to poach any of the coaching staff or players from us? I definitely would if I was him.

Simpletons. Y'all should know better. I told you this was coming. We better hope that Terry is competent because that's what we are getting for the next 4-5 years.

Oh, he will. He'll be poaching Texas talent from us for years to come. Our only hope is to pay more.

I’m not surprised a school took a shot at him. I’m also not surprised that is was a bottom tier power 5 program with nothing to lose. Ole miss isn’t Texas in terms of job level. It’s not even really Texas Tech imo. He’ll do well but he screwed up his dream job and the best job he will ever get, and deep down he knows that.

Beard is a damn good coach if we keep Terry and IF he sets us back a couple of years and Beard has Ole Miss rolling the joke will be on us. Beard will be laughing all the way to the bank if he turns Ole Miss into a monster.

He’ll do well. He won’t turn them in to a monster. They’ve only been to the NCAA tournament 9 times in program history. 5 times in the last 21 years.

Even if he does kill it. Doesn’t mean that Texas was wrong. They made the correct decision and regardless of what happens at Ole miss or whatever happens at Texas it’s Chris Beard’s fault he’s not at Texas.

I do hope that he took his short time away from the game to get his house in order personally

Again the people who put winning and a sport, more important than being a decent person and oh idk NOT abusing a woman are sad af. IDC that hes going to Ole Miss and they said oh we can look past this. Oh he wasnt charged and she dropped the charges/said she lied. There was PLENTY proof that he was involved in that dispute. Stop putting coaches and players on pedestal and acting like they are above the law and morals. ITS A SPORT. BEARD IS A P.O.S, has many many issues/demons he needs to work out and Ole Miss can cash that check with the devil. Better them than us. If you would rather have THAT as your coach, then you have your priorities in life messed up. The same type of person who would say "WE WANT URBAN MEYER AS OUR COACH!"

Does Terry have any skeletons in the closet?

Well he’s been an assistant at Texas for many years, and a HC at 3 different spots so I’m guessing no, but if he beats his wife tomorrow I’d expect texas(and every other major program) to make the same decision

Urban is a good coach and his personal sh&+ was out there cause that is what he does. Morals might be wrong, but you can't change the fact they can coach. Briles was a good coach, but what he did was wrong. But look his son is still out there and the new coordinator at TCU. People will dismiss everything when they gotta keep up with the Jones.

And Ole Miss might of never been anything in basketball but doesn't mean it can't change look at Ole Miss in baseball they had only been to the College World Series 6 times and they finally win one!

I’m not saying people shouldn’t get second chances. I think people should most of the time. However your 2nd chance doesn’t have to come at the place you screwed up at. In fact it rarely does. I guarantee you that it will eat at Chris Beard for the rest of his career that he screwed up the Texas opportunity

You wanna talk about second chances I have one name for you Ray Lewis.

Beard is still a UT alum and will always be can't take that away from him. He might kick him self in the butt for messing it up, but maybe this happened for a reason. I can tell you this a step cousin of mine became the head trainer at Permian dream job alum etc.....the boosters at Permain were taking care of him. Well he screwed up not like beard but screwed up and now is in Grandview. So sh!+ happens for a reason.

I think that is the most frustrating thing about the situation. He is a Texas alum, Texas was probably the only job he was leaving tech for, at least when he did and he lost it. Like I said I hope he spent the last few months betting himself and his personal life in order, and does well at ole miss

this will be a significant step for both Beard and Ole Miss basketball, and it will be interesting to see how this story unfolds in the days and weeks ahead.

Like i've said many times, Beard isn't the only good coach in America. They made the right decision letting him go.

I don't debate anything you stated. But tell me how to reconcile this with rooting for Arterio Morris.

I was surprised that Morris didn’t at least get suspended, but I will say this it is completely different when a player gets in trouble and when your coach gets arrested and in trouble. The coach is held to a higher standard(and rightfully so)

I think it came down to Beard embarrassing the university as well as CDC. Kinda like what got Herman fired(and not winning).Usually kids get a second chance depending on the circumstances. A lot of universities the coaches get a second/third chance. If your winning it will cover a multitude of sins.

Coaches are always held to a higher standard regardless of if that's right or wrong.

I've always said the deal with Beard was done with UT within a couple of weeks of his "arrest". The talk about fighting against termination for cause was just lawyer talk, otherwise, if he had a strong claim or was prepared to spend a couple mill on actually fighting it he wouldn't be at Ole Miss right now. He's a hell of a coach but had UT gone on to bigger things, maybe even a final 4 this year, it would have felt dirty. UT made the right call. But end of day, when (not if) Beard has a few good years at Ole Miss the blue bloods will be calling (Kentucky, Michigan, Michigan State, North Carolina, Indiana, UCLA, Arizona, etc.). I give him 4-5 years at Ole Miss before the next big one comes calling. Hell, maybe even UT calls the prodigal son back home by then.
