Port Arthur Memorial cornerback Kary Vincent already holds double-digit offers, and more are sure to follow. One school that's keeping a close eye on the 5-11, 175-pound standout is the Texas Longhorns, and Vincent is hopeful a UT offer could be coming sometime this spring.
Key quote: "I talk to coach (Vance) Bedford I would say once a week," Vincent said. "He said I should expect an offer when they see me in person."
Other schools in hot pursuit: Vincent has offers from Arkansas, Baylor, Houston, Ole Miss, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, SMU, TCU and Vanderbilt.
He recently took a junior day visit to Baylor. He's also planning to visit TCU and Houston soon, when he can squeeze in some free time in between track meets. He will not be able to attend Texas' junior day on February 27.
Thoughts on the Baylor visit: Vincent is keeping an open mind, but said is Baylor junior day visit left a good impression.
"It's a great environment. They have a great academic program, a high graduation percentage which is outstanding for me. I love the game, but I have to take care of my educations first," Vincent said. "They're great people, great coaches, family coaches. It's a family environment, that's ultimately what stood out."
Thoughts on Texas: "I really think highly of them. If they offer, I'll definitely take them into consideration. It really doesn't matter where I go to school, but the ones that are in the area, I'm going to pay close attention to them early."
Good size/speed combination: Vincent has decent size at 5-11 but it's his speed on the field that really jumps out when watching him on film. The son of former Texas A&M wide receiver Kary Vincent, it may be tough to pull the younger Vincent from the Aggies if A&M does offer, but Vince says he is wide open at this point and is in close contact with the Texas coaches.
"I would describe myself as a playmaker, someone who makes something out of nothing," Vincent said. "I'm really physical, fast, athletic - just a go-getter."
