For you teachers on here: It seems like every other day now I am getting letters like this from one of my kids schools. It seems to me that all a teacher has to do is say 'hey I'm having trouble breathing" and they're off on a 2 week paid vacation? Am I wrong in my thinking? To me this seems ridiculous and once the regular flu season starts the pro covid folks are going to try to take advantage of every situation. Crap like this is why I'm not putting much faith in the CFB season being worth a shit and you can thank the fear mongering libs for this crap.

Trust me on this.......students are taking full advantage of stating symptoms so they can go home. The school has to remove them. Anytime there is a positive we have to send out letters to the entire campus. Its such a cluster. Remember the days of faking sick and the teacher was like "cool, but when you're done faking the work is still there"......well those days are over.
I've personally sent home so many that I'd have to count my sheets to know.

As far as teachers........I've had very few report themselves and the ones that did had a positive test. I can only speak for my district, but the teachers were ready to get back at it. It's much harder trying to do all this from home, trust me.

Thanks for the reply and I didn’t mean to lump all teachers in one mold. I guess my question/concern was that I’m not seeing any letters coming to me about kids being sent home only teacher’s so I’m wondering why that would be.

I agree though its a cluster and when or how does it end? Is this the new normal? Seems like it. Wait until flu season rolls around and people start reporting they have flu like symptoms, hell they may shut schools down out of an over abundance of caution?

I can only speak for my district, but we send home letters that state when there is a positive case among students and staff. If a staff member does go on quarantine, the classes do receive emails/notes letting them know the teacher will be out. I see positive test letters coming out pretty regular here.

I do know some districts have a lot of teachers wanting to keep it online, but our district is glad to be back on campus.

When the CDC and TEA tell us it ends is when it ends. I do think from now on every time there is a "pandemic" (whatever that is now) you will see the schools being the first to react. Schools were caught with their pants down last March and it was a complete cluster. Schools got blamed for everything. I know I worked more hours when it went online than I did when we had face to face school. I'm curious to see if election being over in Nov changes anything.

Here is the double edged sword for the districts wanting to open as normal.......if we just say we going back to the old way of doing school and a child with health issues already gets sick and dies then that district will be plastered all over the news. Trust me, the news reporters are lurking waiting on that. I had one admit to me in private that it would lead the news for days.

I really feel once the flu season kicks up you will see some districts shut down due to low attendance. As you all know this is a huge chunk of the schools funding is attendance. If schools are still required to send them home for the COVID symptoms, then schools will be ghost towns when flu hits. I've taken more cussings than I can count due to sending kids home. Our district is about 65% on campus and 35% choosing at home learning. We will see if that changes at the start of second six weeks.

Thanks for the insight.

I have a question. One of the cheerleaders on my daughters squad tested positive, and the girls on that smaller group were sent home to quarantine for two weeks.

How is the testing done and who pays for it? I am not sure of the cost, so I assume it could be a burden for some families. My assumption is that the school pay for student testing when necessary. Is that correct?

Should show this to every superintendent in America.

Well TEA and CDC came out with guidelines we must follow. The kids don't have to be tested. If no testing the kid must be out for X number of days and symptoms gone. If they do test and it's negative they can come right back. If they test positive then its X number of days out. Schools are not paying for testing. Parents don't have to test.

Trust me its not the superintendents making these choices. Its the vague language that TEA is choosing to use in some of their guidelines that are leaving Supers hanging in the wind if the wrong thing happens from not being super conservative in reopening.

Superintendents more than anyone are sick of this mess.

I actually think the flu season will be mild this year compared to other years. This is in contrast to expectations, but I only think this because of the mask wearing, distancing, less gatherings in stadiums, retailers cleaning more...Now, it won't feel like it, because the media is currently reporting any sniffle and sneeze we have. However, if Biden harvests enough ballots to steal the election, the excess reporting that makes people afraid will go away.

We haven't had too many issues in our district. Most of the kids that chose to do in person learning WANT to be here. Most of the kids that chose "remote" learning are just lazy post smoking dipshits. But they have to show engagement in order to be marked present.

We are a 5A-D1 school, so not small by any stretch. I'd say we have 70% in person learning at the moment.

As far as teacher days. We get 10 "covid" days to use if we are sent home. I don't know of anyone that has used any of them yet. It certainly isn't a paid vacation as we are still expected to be available virtually, even at home.

If they are able to steal it, Biden won't be seen in public. We will get a hologram like we got at the democrat convention. It will seamlessly move to a nice hologram of Big Brother and off we go.

I wonder whose killed off the most kids in a War, the last 3 Prez;s or Lyndon? Whoever gets Prez needs to bring all of them home,,,enough is enough! I used to volunteer to do Color Guard for VFW at Military grave side, Its a moving experience, I see why them guys in Nam drink and smoked dope till they passed out in G&R...bad job to have...I don't give a shit whether its Trump or Biden, just bring them home, Last time I voted was for Lyndon and look where that got me...LOL
