According to HookEm.com, the university's timeline has construction beginning in 2019 with the project being completed in 2021.
It is the south end zone where the players have always come out.
Emphasis is being placed on being under budget and ahead of time schedule. It wouldn't be surprising if this was completed well ahead of 2021.

It's coming FBH these are just steps that are required now a days. It's just like anything in this world people want to have the latest and greatest and so do recruits and parents/fans that pay tuition.
We can't be left behind. We are rich. Jeff bezoz on steroids rich. Catholic church rich. Kids today are all about the bling. If we spend 10 years idle ad not growing or updating, we look up after a decade and SMU has passed us in facilities. Then kids look around and go "wait, aren't you guys rich?".
Unfortunately in today's society, the youth believe that if you've got it, you are also required to flaunt it.
I think that is where LHN does the pre/post game broadcast. I don't know jack, but, perhaps they want to keep that open for that.
Yes, this mindset is prevalent. As long as they have enough cash to make the first payment on required bling, it's all good.

The south end zone expansion will break ground in the summer of 2019 beginning with the Moncrief-Neuhaus Athletic Center renovations. Construction on the seats, clubs and additional amenities will be completed by kickoff in 2021.
