Didn't know Moore and Eagles were the nation's top two sparq scores for the class. The two most athletic WRs plus the best DB class in the nation. Looks like Herman can recruit after all.

BBR - what do you make of the db class?

Not BBR, but I think this has a chance to be the best DB class of all time. At least on paper.

We currently have the 3rd, 5th, 13th and 18th ranked DBs in the nation. Add Jamison at the 33rd best. If we add 2nd ranked Cook, that is a class like none other. Looking back at previous DB classes, I could not find one that had both 3 top 5 players and followed that up with 3 other highly ranked commits.

Bwilk - I know that every time we have a coaching change there's a lot of excitement, everyone hoping for the best and feeling good about things. But this seems different, just a different vibe from the team and staff. Nothing I can put my finger on, but recruiting alone just feels different from the last few rotations ive watched. Im soooooooo excited that this is for real this time. I think it is.

It sure feels like something special is brewing. We will know a lot more here in a few months after we see a product on the field. Couldn't ask for a much better offseason.

Hmmmm...... 1993 had Bryan Westbrook, Tre Thomas and Chris Carter...... I know they were all VERY highly ranked. Perhaps they were the same caliber.

Stupid kicker.........

yeah.....but in the end, the guy that maybe more than any of the others will have the responsibility of winning or losing the game on one play. The rest get to be a part of the team on every play and have those team mates around them. Poor damned kickers are kind of out there by themselves.

Maybe we'll get lucky and he'll be phil Dawson 2.0

So, I am a bit too young to be familiar with that crew.

Full disclosure, I compared this group to all DB classes going back to 2003. I am sure there have been some great DB groups recruited to schools in the past but I don't think recruiting rankings were such a big deal back then so it is hard to compare.

5-6 against ranked teams gives a lot of hope. Let's win baby.

I'm as excited about these kids as anyone else on this thread. And if Ed Oliver is any indication this staff has proven, at least to me, that they can develop 4* star talent.

But through the years we have never developed any quality receivers. It wasn't just Charlie Strong, none of the coaches have. Maybe Tom Herman and his coaches will finally break the cycle.

And before anyone mentions Roy Williams imo he was an underachiever. Oh and btw when Tom Herman was hired by Houston he said he wanted to recruit heavily in the Houston area. And it looks he's taking that recruiting in Houston to the University of Texas.

Ed Oliver?...4 star talent? at EVERY camp he went to as a recruit he blew the top off the scale. He was unblockable. Give the staff credit for landing him and credit for not messing him up, but Oliver had AA stamped on him from the get go.....very similar to Conner in that regard

At Texas or in the NFL?

Both.

It's probably unfair, but I judge a horn by how good he was against Oklahoma. And RW disappeared in all four games. He didn't have even one td in the RRR. Not one.

Was a disappointment in the NFL was on 3 teams in 8 years.

Darrell and right now I ca'nt remember his last name (Drake?) said he was never pushed and said he wasn't as good as he should have been.

I watched his highlight reel on hdl, and some if his game film. I'm thinking he's a 4.57ish 40 time. He has good hands, if you get him int o the open field he's got good, long strides. Tall at 6'4. Doesn't do well in a crowd but that just takes some experience. If he can get that 40 time down below 4.5, and there's no reason he can't, this kid could be a heck of a deep threat.
