Day 1 Notes
10 takeaways from opening night at Elite 11 from Rivals Analyst Adam Gorney
Dia Bell: The Texas commit was outstanding all night, threw beautiful passes to every level of the field and spun it as well as anyone. As the night wore on, Bell’s arm didn’t tire at all, he kept great pace on all his passes and looked like a five-star contender. Whether it was during a station near the goal line or throwing the deep ball to the outside, Bell was on the money on almost every throw and looked really comfortable doing it.
On3 Day 1 MVP: Dia Bell — Texas
Dia Bell delivered a very strong workout on Day 1 at the Elite 11 Finals. The Texas pledge accounted for several of the best throws we saw throughout the drill stations on Thursday night. Bell impressed early on with his fluid, natural mechanics. The ball jumps out of Bell’s hand. He’s a rotational passer and generates impressive torque through his core. Bell showed the ability to make all the throws to every level of the field on Tuesday night. We came away extremely impressed with how he threw the ball in a station near the goal line. Bell made an array of impressive passes, delivering with exquisite pace and touch. The ball got out with impressive zip and was stuck on the receivers’ faces throw after throw. The five-star signal caller was working in the same group as touted Tennessee commit Faizon Brandon. Both top quarterbacks seemed to elevate each other’s game, allowing for the most high-energy, impressive sequence we saw all evening.Day 2 Notes
Elite 11 Finals: Day 2 Top Performers
On3 MVP: Helaman Casuga — Texas A&M
Helaman Casuga turned in a hyper-efficient, clean pro day workout at Day 2 of the Elite 11 Finals. The Utah native was efficient in operating through the 20 throw script. We charted Casuga as on target on 18 of his 20 pass attempts. He made the majority of the throws look easy and was unbothered by the different route concepts. Casuga was on time and rhythmic in his drops, looking comfortable when working from under center. We were impressed with how he layered his throws. One of the highlights came on a fade route: he dropped the ball over the receiver’s shoulder into outstretched arms. Casuga established nice timing with the receivers while delivering catchable passes. His showing on Wednesday night builds on a Top Performer outing on Day 1. This is the best we’ve seen Casuga look this off-season, after missing much of his junior season with injury. It’s safe to say Casuga looks the healthiest and sharpest we’ve seen in the last nine months.10. Dia Bell — Texas
Dia Bell showed the crispest footwork we saw on Day 2 at the Elite 11 Finals. He looked incredibly comfortable taking drops from under center. Bell got great depth on each drop and was rhythmic and bouncy in his movements. The Texas commit also had the best play-action fakes of the group. The technical operation was very impressive. He delivered some nice throws but also had a few misses that led to lower scores for the overall workout. With that said, the talent and polish were still apparent.
