Have I been under a rock?

Baylor's been in the news twice recently, with little mention here. (Or did I just miss it?)
  1. Judge ruled that BU has to reveal all their Pepper Hamilton investigation data to 10 female plaintiffs who are suing BU.
  2. A book on the BU sexual assault scandal revealed that BU's football program was avoiding random drug testing, thanks to Art Briles. Baylor Regents were unaware of this, until Pepper Hamilton told them so. (It didn't appear in the sanitized version of the PH report that BU allowed to be publicized.)
I wonder how many recruits chose Baylor due to #2?

Also, when you fire a coach the successor is usually the exact opposite. My Baylor family members are cautiously optimistic about Matt Rhule. He is imposing discipline on and off the field and will no longer recruit kids who have no business in school. Well see.

Ok.

I can tell you this first hand.

There are 3 drug tests you are submitted to as an athlete. All 3 have something in common, and all 3 have differences.

1. School drug test. This test only happens if you get popped by the police for DUI and a blood test is taken. Once the word is out that you "may" be using drugs, the school will "randomly" test you and tell you 7 days prior that you've been selected for testing. The other reason you may be tested is that it's obvious you've been smoking pot and ppl are talking. Common sense prevents this. The school conducts a certain # of these tests every year to keep up appearances.
2. Conference testing: Also very rare. Usually done randomly once a semester and 8-10 guys would get called in--- max. You get a 24 hour heads up on this. Let's just say I've seen crates of Golden Seal and Pickle Juice on many occasions. Allegedly, vinegar and golden seal worked....flushed your system.
3. NCAA testing: this is no bullsh!t testing. The used to make you strip, bend over, spread'em, lift schlong, lift sack, open mouth and stick out tongue. Then pull Mr. Shy over here and try to pee with an audience. You have to then pour your piss into a series of vials and bottles that you must seal yourself to avoid tampering, then sign for everything.
Testing rate for NCAA: Truly random. I had none for a year and 6 the next year. Bowl games? Expect a test.
So, my point in all this is- the only way Briles could fake test results were if they were in house test results. If it were conference or NCAA tests, you must show up with ID for your test. Once you piss, that cup doesn't leave their sight. The thing is literally sealed up by you in 3 flasks that YOU sealed and signed off on with you initials, then they put the remaining piss in a cup that you seal with tape and initial, then they seal that in a plastic box with a "lock top" that you again, wrap in tap that you initial with a marker. Then you place that in a cardboard box that is sealed with red tape that you initial again. Then they hand you a clipboard with a contract that says, "You and only you touched your piss and you sealed it up 27 times with tape and master locks with lasers........so if you test positive, it's on you".

the only way Briles could fake test results

It says he avoided not faked. Either way how do you avoid a random test? Don't show up? I get random at work and they call your boss and he or she tells you to call and make an appointment they give you literally 30-45 mins after you hang up to show up to the testing. If you do not call they escalate to the next up so your bosses boss. 1st piss test, 2nd hair test and yes they make you initial your piss and hair samples while signing some contract. Pretty much what Clob said on his #3 option.

How you avoid not going to a test? Paying off the testing office?

7 day advanced warning?....makes the test somewhat useless. The hard drugs...all opiates...cocane etc are gone without a trace in 3 days. Pot however, stays in the system for around 42 days, but possibly gone in 35 days from hard working athletes. They always keep part of the original sample for later testing in the event of a challenge. Any argument that the sample was mixed up and volunteer to retest is simply a ploy. The chances of the samples being mixed up are nil, as Clob related.

"Avoided" was my word, which wasn't very clear. Sorry. Here's what the Houston Chronicle reporter wrote:
Prior to adopting a new policy in 2016, Baylor University athletic department officials did not conduct random drug tests of student-athletes because violations would place offenders at risk for severe punishment under the Baptist school's strict rules against marijuana use...

Did I read that right? Matt Rhule opposes discipline everywhere? Why would BU people be optimistic about that?!

Yeah HRU I was referring to Clob's post not yours.

I've completely tuned out anything about Bailor that's in the press these days. It went from absurd to sublime a long time ago. Those people running that university are a complete disgrace. I simply don't want to know anymore about what they've done wrong. My mind will explode.

I'll say this they have a new president, a new ad,and a new hc. When Matt Rhule took over he said that Baylor would be built around defense, special teams, and execution ie..few penalties. Things Art Briles couldn't be bothered with. Briles lost the biggest game in his Baylor career because of that. Rhule actually had a decent class when he took over when you consider he only had one commit.

They still have talent and few players have left which is rare when a new coach takes over. A sign that his players have bought in to him.

His dc was with him at Temple and last year they finished fourth in defense. Needless to say Temple is not a P5 school. But when you consider how bad Big XII defenses are he's an improvement.

Their fb history is more losses than wins. Seven straight winning seasons is expected at a place like Texas. But Baylor has done that and it's a huge deal for them. They've had more success during this period than they' ever had. I have them as my sleeper team in the Big XII. But considering that it's a new coach and a new way of doing things at Baylor eight wins would be a good season for them.

I have them at 8/4 this year.

It wouldn't surprise me to find out that the Baylor football program is a recruiting hotbed for ISIS and visa versa. A bunch of filthy animals that need deportation.

This is coming from a guy that stood and cheered for Joe Mixon. Glass houses Bell!

Joe Mixon committed a horrible offense. Your program's problem are systemic from top to bottom. Trump needs to build a wall around your university tall enough where none of y'all can ever get out into general population again. Allegedly 52 rapes in 4 years by 31 different Baylor players and you can bet there's many more that never got reported due to fear, embarrassment on the Girl's part. Tell us more about your Christian school.

I was just giving you a hard time. But if you really want to go there .... I didn't hear anyone calling for the heads of Stoops, Boren or Castiglione after:

1. Mixon - hit a girl in the face
2 Westbrook - 2 arrests for domestic violence.
3. Dorial Green Beckham - the school went to the mat trying to gain eligibility for another female assaulter.
4. Frank Shannon.

That's FOUR documented in the press. What's the magic number? Evidently 4 is not enough for you. 5? 10? Or was no. 52 the one that put you over the top? Each one of these 4 were supported by your president, AD, coach and fans in their return. Now go put on your Zeke Elliott jersey and tell us how he has been wronged. BU deserves what it gets. But I won't listen to it from a school that is absolutely no different when it comes to handling domestic violence (actually - I take the position OU is worse - your fanbase knew about each one and took NO action!).

Are yall having a spat on who's school commited more abuse and rape? o_O Proud bunch you two are.

Oh we're no. 1 by far on that one. This is more like democrats vs. republicans. Bush ran up the deficit "only" 5 trillion vs. Obama's 9 million. They both sucked when it came to fiscal responsibility..

The difference is Diadevic, every heinous allegation of Baylor was covered up by your crooked school from the top down. The examples you used of OU players played out in real time. I didn't think Mixon deserved another shot but it sure as heck was not swept under the rug nor anything else you're trying to use as justification. The fact that Baylor prides itself on being a Christian school is mind boggling. In my opinion Baylor should be stripped of that right.

"Sure as heck was not swept under the rug" - now that's the understatement. So OU proudly parades women assaulters around the field on Saturday afternoons and petitions the NCAA for DGB immediate eligibility due to "extenuating circumstances" --- and OU deserves a medal? At least BU tore the house down. OU? OU even raided the BU recruiting class after the fall of Briles and took ... Parish Cobb??? Shame.

This is the last I'll say in this thread but Baylor has only done what they have been forced to do to try to stop the bleeding. It's fixing to get real ugly once all is exposed. If Baylor was truly trying to burn it down they would start by taking a 5 year hiatus from football for starters in my opinion.

Unfortunately BU does not have a united voice like OU --- otherwise we would've locked arms and all chanted together - nothing to see here, move along. To paraphrase your coach - a lot has changed in the last 2 years. Evidently from the OU/Stoops perspective - hitting a girl was ok 2 years ago. Cut the righteous indignation BS.

you seem to like posting videos so why not post some of the videos your players made of their "bonding" experiences. OU has had their faults but is not traipsing around under the guise of being a private Christian school. That Greg, RN, is what makes your university an abomination. Burn it to hell. And I vehemently disagree with your assertion that weren't locking arms and united. Y'all damn sure did, from the top down. It was "let's cover this up and hope like hell no one comes forward and exposes our corruption" That was the motto and now it's all coming out. Ken Starr should have stuck to doing what he does best, exposing those Clinton's for what they are.

Did Sholtz hack Bell's computer? You seem fixated on the Christian angle. Hey - we at BU are reaping what we sowed. It will be decades, if ever, before this stain is erased. But now that Boren and others have lectured us on proper behavior towards women, I now see the light. Anyone who is not calling for the heads of Boren and Castiglione should be ashamed. Taking time from all of your duties to petition for a woman beater to get immediate eligibility? Shameful. Anyone buying a ticket to a Cowboys game as long as Zeke is on the roster? Shame. Anyone not questioning Jerry Jones on what he knew and when he knew it ("there is no he said she said"). Shame. And WTH is this Greg RN reference? Hey Florence Nightingale, I saw Meet the Parents.
