- The hope all along is for WR Armanti Foreman (ankle) to be back at full-speed this week and that sounds like the outcome we'll see. He's running routes and catching footballs but still not working out with the team in a full capacity.
- Same goes for freshman WR Reggie Hemphill-Mapps (knee).
- We've heard Charlie Strong praise DT Chris Nelson who has had a good few weeks at the nose-tackle position. In asking one person about Nelson, he said that he's taken advantage of the opportunity "while (starting DT Paul) Boyette's been out." We don't know the exact nature of the injury at this time, but it appears Boyette's been missing some practices in the recent days, possibly even back to last week. We'll continue to monitor the situation, but we didn't get any indications that his was anything major. Still, it's not optimal to already have Boyette missing time again this year.
- The thing Nelson does best is being able to anchor and hold his spot but also get skinny through the gap when needed one person said.
- One person said Boyette was out on Tuesday and that freshman DT Gerald Wilbon was the player rotating in with the first group of Chris Nelson and DT Poona Ford. When asked if Wilbon was filling in on reps for Nelson at the nose or Ford at the tackle the person said both.
- RT Tristan Nickelson and C Zach Shackelford both remain in the pit. It seems like Nickelson may be a little closer to returning than Shackelford, but neither is there yet. The clock is starting to tick down to official Notre Dame game-week. That will basically start through the end of this week but kick off in earnest Monday.
- Tyrone Swoopes continues to be the first QB up working with the first group and one person said Swoopes was now getting the most reps with the first group, too. Shane Buechele continues to get as much work overall as Swoopes and is said to be working hard and improving by all accounts. Through most of camp, though, the number of snaps with the first group had been an even split between Tyrone Swoopes and Shane Buechele. Coming into Notre Dame practices, it appears those rep-percentages with the ones may be shifting in Swoopes' favor.
