Our Passing Efficiency Defense was 47th last season. We especially struggled to match up against future NFL skill talent last year, see Golden Hou, Brown Hou, Manjack Hou, Williams TCU, Wiley TCU, Odunze WA, Polk WA, McMillan WA, and Westover WA.

This week's headliner matchup obviously is the Rams 6-3 185 future NFLer WR Tory Horton #14 vs our passing D. He isn't the only capable WR, Goffney #5 (23 for 298 yds 2 TD) and ex TX commit Winfield #1 have hopes for making us pay. Suspect another skill player will get some targets, RB and ?. But most targets will likely go to Horton (96 receptions for 1,136 yards and 8 TDs in 2023).

Rams 5-10 180 RB Marshall #29 got a starter share increase in snaps in the final 3 games, averaging 19 rushes for 103 yards per game and 5.5 yds per rush. He was a BIG improvement compared to their other RBs. If we are to play good rush D vs Michigan, we should show it this week vs the Rams that can be efficient on the ground vs bad run D. Would be a bad omen if he gets 95 yds and 4.75 yds per carry on us.

While their Freshman QB avoided INTs in HS, he had 16 INTs last year which was the most in their conference. He was sacked 33 times. How disruptive can our D be in this game? While we may be vanilla and the Rams will try to get the ball out quickly, I still expect to see us get pressures, tfls, sacks and turnovers.

Rams' best edge rusher with 13 sacks was drafted in the 5th rd. Rams only got 14 sacks as a D last year. An edge expected to have an impact is hampered by a turf toe. Quinn should have ample time to pass. Rams had a bad rush D last year. We should be able to run the ball really well. The strength of the Rams' D may be their 2 returning safeties in run support. Will be interesting if Blue or Wisner can beat them in space. Anything less than 42 points by Texas would be a disappointment vs what I expect to be a bad Rams D.

They have a good kicker, perfect inside 39 yds and has hit a 55 yarder. Horton is a dangerous returner, 2 PR TDs.

Expecting
Horns 42+ pts
Rams 9 - 20pts
Guessing 45 - 13 HORNS

A. 7pts or less by the Rams then our D is likely overall better and deeper than last year.
or
B. 21pts or better by the Rams then our D is likely not good enough for our challenging schedule.
