Filter on this site -- please help

I have somehow activated the filter on this site on my lap top computer -- it shows weird, old threads and I can click on the filter button and turn it off but if I open a thread and then close, I have to go click the filter off again to be able to see the current threads. This happens every time I open and close threads.

Does anybody know a way to PERMANENTLY turn this danged filter off? I know it is something I must have done while on this compute because I don't have this problem on my work computer or my desk top computer.
