Football rules slippery slope

The thread about Lions being robbed in Cowboys game got me thinking about how rules that once seemed really clear cut and objective have, in recent years begun to be officiated in a way the leads to unnecessary subjective interpretations.

As an example from that thread was what is considered to be lining up on vs. off the line of scrimmage. Offensive tackles now regularly line up so far off the line of scrimmage to where you could throw a flag on pretty much every play. Similarly, I really do not understand anymore what is considering to be moving forward at the snap of the ball with regards to players in motion. At every level of football now you can see players in motion moving towards the line of scrimmage at the snap.

I would be interested in hearing from those here in the ref/coaching community why they think this is has come about. Are refs now taught to just ignore these cases unless some subjective interpretation leads them to believe the violation is flag-worthy?
