Sooooo if I'm charlie, do I sit sterling down and go "ok, watch the film.... do what we did last year...... pound the clock...... etc etc"..

Or do you think he says "fvck it! Release the Krakken!"

This is our kraken.

The latter will happen. But hopefully a good mixture of both on our way to a Super Bowl Victory in FEB!!!!

HOOK 'EM

My game plan is to go down to Austin and listen to live music and drink beer. Then check the score at the beer tent once in awhile.

Hook Em!

If they are smart they add some wrinkles to the play book. OSU knew exactly how to cover...they just backed off our WRs and let them have five yard outs all day. They were unsuccessful just enough for OSU to get some stops, which will happen if you are forced to complete that pass 7 times on each drive.
I'm sure that if I noticed this, Gilbert noticed it. Simple solutions could be a hitch and go or pump fake by Buchele to get them to bite.
On defense, hit Mayfield. The secondary looked better in the second half, but they are still going to need help. Last year he had happy feet the whole game. Same thing needs to happen this year.

Offensive game plan is to pound them with Foreman and put in about 4 different pass plays that take advantage of a soft middle coverage. Fact is no one expects Texas to go over the middle because we haven't so that area should be open and it will be there all day. I'd also toss in a few pass plays to the TE. Again no one expects us to do it so it should be there.

On the defensive side, blitz blitz blitz and somehow show our corners how to play press man coverage. I'm actually hoping moving Bedford back to DB coach will help in the maturity level of our DBs.

BTW - why don't we start heard at RB?

I get it that we need him at WR, but damn we need to get him as many touches as possible, it also would allow us to bring Foreman off the bench and protect him a little more.

Speaking of Foreman, I now think it would be a huge mistake if he left early for the NFL, not that he isn't good enough, he is, but he also hasn't learned how to play through pain. In that regard, he is a bit of a china doll. Once he learns how to leave it all out there he will be a hell of an NFL back.

I disagree. The way the NFL is currently chewing up and spitting out RBs, he can't waste a year of earning potential to improve playing through pain. If he's is projected to be drafted he's gone. He may be gone even if he doesn't get a draft grade. Cook and Fournette are your early round guys the rest are going late, and the only guys getting that big 2nd contract are the elite of the elite. He doesn't need to risk so much because after that rookie deal if you haven't separated from the field your recycled for the next rookie.

18 wheeler is overused now so Swoopes could be a running back. Hopefully Shane is not so injured that he can try to pass it deep, Something OSU sucked at covering and we did not throw any deep passes last week.

they were playing the deep ball. Our offense in its current configuration dictates a short pass if they back way off the line

You put heard at RB and you're telling the defense too much, cuz he ain't about to block a blitzing linebacker.

Not that I agree with Heard to RB, but are you saying that because Heard is smaller that it signals that we must be running the ball because Heard can't help pickup a blitz?

I would run it up the gut. Announced yesterday that OU's best DT in my opinion is out with concussion as well as Matt Dimon is out. Not much quality proven depth in the middle backing up Romar and Wade although Gallimore seems productive as does Austin Roberts.

I believe he should sit him down and discuss with Gilbert regardless. ou has a decent offense, so we need to run the ball if we can and keep them off of the field. What is the injury status of CW3 and D'Onte?

Did we learn more than 5 plays this week?

Hook'em
Don't confuse em.....and there is zero reason why we should not put 40 plus on this defense. Charles walker is out and a few other injuries should allow us to do pretty much anything we want. Our defense will derail the offense though.

ou has a decent offense,

decent offense?...maybe the best so far this year....Sadly for us, our offense might be limited by injuries. I am hoping we can score 40. If Foreman is 100% all game and Shane is as well, we ought to do just fine on that side of the ball.

Do you mean best that we've faced? Because OUs offense is certainly not the best so far this year in college football.

Well, sort of, I was in a hurry. Using him every now and then at RB as a curveball would actually be okay and kind of fun. What I was getting at is that defenses would eventually figure out what you're doing, since he's not likely to run between the tackles much and would not be an effective run or pass blocker.

the same defense that gave up 23 points in the second half against tcu and almost gave up a game winning drive ????

After reading the posts on this thread here's the consensus for the game plan:

Pound the clock
Throw it deep
Pass over the middle (especially the TE)
Run it up the gut
Pass out of the 18 Wheeler
Don't pass out of the 18 Wheeler
Learn more than 5 plays
Don't learn more than 5 plays...keep it simple
Play Heard at running back
Play Swoopes at running back
Do whatever it takes
Release the Krakken

Charlie's a wise a$$. I like it

Gilbert certainly comes from the Briles/Leach school of clock unawareness. Guarantied to cost you in big games. With 2 minutes til half against Cal we block the punt and get the safety. Rather than run the ball and keep our matador defense off the field, Gilbert has injured Buechelle throw deep. They get a pick and come down to score. It's taken me 20+ years but now I know why Buddy Ryan punched Kevin Gilbride. I felt like punching Gilbert for that stupid a*^ call.

We need to better clock awareness to win this game. Tell Porter to put his big boy pants on, because D'Onta is going to need a break. Keep Heard on the short quick passes in hopes he breaks one. Have Duvernay learn how to take a knee if the ball is in the end zone.
Make the highly overrated Baker Mayfield run for his life.

Well my plan is to eat a large breakfast with a lot of coffee close by....if the game goes south, I plan to fortify the coffee and commiserate on the gameday thread hereabouts..

I'm going to dvr the game & start watching about 1hr after kickoff. This way I'll be able to watch when our offense in on the field and fast forward through the defense play.
Win win. I won't get my blood pressure boiling from the secondary circus & I won't have to hear the sooner fight song after every......single.....effing.......play.
