What's the latest on Tyler Johnson @Suchomel ? I think the last we've heard in terms of any updates is that he was getting yelled at less during practice? Not a great sign, but man if there is someone on the roster that could help out, I would have to think he is the prototype physically to step in.

Thanks in advance.

He's a perfect example of Herman's inability to develop talent. This kid was a 5 star recruit if I'm not mistaken. How could he be so bad to not even be able to get on the field by now?

Meanwhile, Saban is taking 3 star recruits and turning them into 12 year NFL vets.

I think Tyler Johnson is more interested in cutting wrap videos. Consider him a victim of our social justice studies department.

From what I've heard, the biggest issues with him have been work ethic and conditioning. He has apparently failed to get into the type of shape he needs to perform at a high level.

Seriously, he does rap songs.

He can rap all be wants as long as fb is his top priority. Apparently he's going to waste a free ride when other students graduate and start out in life in debt. Frustrating to see.
Sark apparently is pretty good at processing guys like this at the end of the year. Look for TJ to be in the portal at the end of the season if he doesn't turn it around.

Players know that when they go to Alabama they are going for one reason, to play football. Not party, not get an education, not get enlightened. Just eat, sleep, and play football. There is a certain percent of players that choose Texas to enjoy the Austin culture, get a good degree, and also play football. Basically Texas attracts a different type of player than teams like Alabama. This has been part of our problem for years. We will get guys that are talented but are not motivated.

Alabama recruits offensive linemen as well as anyone in the country. Their roster is packed with 4 and 5 star OL recruits.

By my count we only have 14 scholarship OL...that's a few short IMO. Of those 14, 10 are 3 stars. The 4* OL are as follows...

Tyler Johnson
Junior Angilau - he's actually having a solid year so far
Jaylen Garth
Andrej Karic

We currently have two OL commits???

Give Flood and Co. time to grab some OL through the portal and recruiting. We can offer earlier playing time and a proven coach to develop them. I know they have a plan for OL and they will get it done. Davis has got some hosses on the DL ready to sign. Hopefully the OL follows.........

Well stated. Sad, but probably true.

Not only that but 4 of those 14 will not be back next year and with only 2 commits that's a net loss of 2. The 2 commits are iol and the other still on the board is another iol. Obviously the coaches think this is where we need the most help on the ol and I trust them.

This is a fine front reply but slow your roll and the education part. Has anyone on here noticed all the physical leisure majors Herman recruited? If you haven't there's a lot.

*** yes I know that's not the correct name but c'mon that's what it is***

That's been my point about the Oline this season. If Tyler Johnson, Isaiah Hookfin, and Jaylen Garth cannot beat out some of our current starters, there isn't a short-term fix for this problem.

This has been the #1 reason for our mediocrity over the last decade.

If the OL had Okafor then we wouldn't be as in bad shape...about average.

Listed below were the starters for last game. They do move around so we'll see

LT - Christian Jones - Run Game - F, Pass Game - F
LG - Derek Kerstetter - Run Game - D-, Pass Game - C+
C - Jake Majors - Run Game - D-, Pass Game - F
RG - Junior Angilau - Run Game - B-, Pass Game - D-
RT - Andrej Karic - Run Game - D, Pass Game - worse than an F, like just awful

Karic is in there because Okafor got hurt. He had an absolute disaster of a game vs. OU. As many of you know, if you have even 1 weak link on the OL, the whole unit looks bad. Well, our tackles are not very good. And the center isn't lighting the world on fire.

Just for reference Okafor - Run Game - B-, Pass Game C-

Against OU, our two tackles had two of the worst games I can remember. If I equate it to QB play, they had a completion percentage of 33% and 5 interceptions.

We may see more of Garth this week.

And where are games won, upfront
