I was a kid in the 60's the 70's was my coming of age decade when it came to sports.
Basketball had the UCLA dynasty.
Football had the Steelers and the Cowboys and the Raiders had an impact.
And OJ Simpson was a remarkable rb.
Muhammad Ali was the most famous athlete.
But what I remember most was when Henry Aaron hit 715 and broke the Babe's record. It was and still is the most exciting thing I've ever seen in sports. HA received hate mail as if breaking the Babe's was a crime. But he did it. HA wasn't just a home run hitter he could do it all. He hit for average covered a lot of ground in the outfield and had a great arm. He was never appreciated while he played but we finally appreciated him not just as a player but for the man himself. In the pre steroid era guys like him and Willy Mays had strong and quick wrists.
Thank you Henry Aaron for that great memory that I will never forget. He was 86
