WESTFIELD, Ind. (Gray News) - Authorities in Indiana are continuing to identify human remains found at an alleged serial killer’s property years after his death.

Herb Baumeister is accused of luring young men to his home in the 1980s and 1990s and murdering them. He took his own life in 1996 before authorities could question him.

The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office announced human remains originally recovered from the 18-acre Fox Hollow Farm property in 1996 have been identified as Jeffrey Jones.
He was reported missing in August 1993.

According to Hamilton County coroner Jeff Jellison, Jones is the third to be identified from the office’s renewed investigation into the more than 10,000 remains recovered at the Indiana property.

“Because many of the remains were found burnt and crushed, this investigation is extremely challenging; however, the team of law enforcement and forensic specialists working the case remain committed,” Jellison said.

Authorities said they are continuing to work with the FBI, Indiana State Police, the University of Indianapolis, and DNA experts from Texas regarding their investigation and identification process.

According to Jellison, investigators have four additional DNA profiles that have not yet been identified, bringing the total number of victims to 12.

The four unidentified DNA profiles will also be sent to the FBI for genetic genealogy investigation.
