How many Heismans could Usain Bolt have won if he (also) played football for the Horns

Bob Hayes changed pro football and was no where near as big as Bolt. Trouble with Bolt is he's not even in the top 5 in the first 40 meters so his top end speed would not help as much unless every play was a 70 yd bomb. His size would be outrageous though.

He's faster than any of us will ever be, but he actually takes a long time to get up to speed (relative to the explosiveness of a WR in the first 10 yards.)

Maybe use him in a redzone package. From the opponent's 15 yard line, Bolt lines up in YOUR endzone. By the time he reaches the LOS he'll be moving a decent percent of the speed of sound and he'll smoke the DB.

Then again he is like 10' 9" so....

:)

In that case, he should play in the arena league (or canadian league?) where you can get a head start running towards the LOS.

I equate this topic to those what if Mike Tyson was in MMA. He'd knock out everyone but we all know that's not true. Speed doesn't automatically translate to a bad ass football player.

I think espn did a sports science deal on Bolt once and the used either Darrell green or Deon sanders 40 yard dash as comparison. If I remember correctly, Bolt gets smoked in the 40 but then passes those two guys somewhere around 65 meters.
