My version (the italics is fantasy...not that kind)...let's here yours...
The delay will give both sides sufficient time to craft and approve each other's matriculas press release where Scottie apologizes for his actions, the Louisville police apologize for not taking sufficient time to brief the new police who were not familiar with the scene due to the accident, and the police officer who states that he only followed instructions and did not understand exercise discretion in the midst of the overwhelming chaos.
All parties will acknowledge that not only do they apologize for their actions, but also acknowledge that each other party was simply doing what they have done many times before under similar circumstances.
All charges will be dropped. In addition, Scottie will offer to cover the police officer's out of pockets and will make a donation to a Louisville police officers' charity on the officer's behalf. He will also offer to let the officer caddy for him at the Par 9 Masters Tourney.
They might even hold a joint well--orchestrated press conference/press event where everyone shakes hands...everyone will live happily ever after....and the scene fades to a soft low melody of My Old Kentucky Home and then The Eyes of Texas as a burnt orange sunset slips away into Kentucky blue grass.
