I never get mad at aggy......"why not" you say?

Well, it's a long and complicated answer.

Let's start with this weekend, just as an example:

Aggy wins a football game over, what many believe to be, a pretty good UCLA team lead by arguably the best sophomore pro prospect at QB in the nation. Reason to cheer, am I right? Sunday morning came and I went to my favorite spot in Gruene for Sunday brunch and there they were-- maroon and white shirts, hats, overalls- you name it- alumni and tshirt fans alike. Those of you that know me know that when I'm not at work, I wear the same wool fitted 7 3/8 texas hat I've had for over a decade- everywhere I go, everyday. It's my lucky hat. Like American Express- I never leave home without it.
I get the usual stares from aggy during the fall as I take my seat at the table. Then one, an older man, decides to pipe up:
"Gonna be tough sleddin' for you sips today. Beatin' ranked teams ain't so easy in Austin these days...."
An obvious goad- I turn and smile and reply "Where'd you go to school?"
He points at his shirt and says "it says right here on my shirt!".
I slowly start turning back to the forward position in my seat as I simultaneously say "ooohhh, have to keep it written down, do you?".

We can't get mad at these people anymore than we can a dog that chases cars, cows that leave their pen when the fence is knocked down, or deer that stand in the road frozen by headlights. It's just who they are.
So with this victory on Saturday over UCLA, you'd think they'd have enough to crow about to keep them occupied. Wouldn't you? I mean, beating the #16 ranked team in the country is a big deal-- even Nick Saban agrees with that.
But not aggy.

And why? Because they were, yet again, eclipsed by big brother. Eclipsed on a larger stage, with more viewers (largest tv rating for any opening weekend game ever) over a higher ranked team, and the original blue blood team at that. It, in their eyes, marginalized their win. It's not enough for them that THEY won, they NEEDED us to lose to fill their voided souls. It's like a battered wife.... he hits me but I love him. It's sick. It's a disease. And they are powerless to stop it. They can't help themselves anymore than the dog chasing the car.

Take for instance their website- texags- the Texas vs ND thread had over 200,000 viewers, 50 some pages and almost what, 2000 posts? At one point Sunday night texags servers went offline. They crashed it------- during OUR game.....
NOW- to excuse away or detract from what Texas did, the BAS conspiracy club has shown up.
1. Targeting. They believe targeting should have been called on the Tori Hunter hit. They believe it wasn't, NOT because the refs were ACC refs, but because the review booth had Big 12 officials in it. This is text book paranoid delusional disorder. I mean literally, a Doctor would have them seek treatment for this.
2. The fix is in between ESPN and ABC. Hey dummy, espn IS ABC. I didn't see any ACC refs cell phones ring right after that hit.... nor did I see espn executives hand cuffing the refs so they couldn't throw the flag. Paranoid much?
3. F-250... they say all our recruits were bought F-250 trucks by some mysterious donor. Those are criminal allegations. If you've got proof, present it. Without proof you're committing slander and liable and can have your a$$ in a legal sling over that. Jealous much?
4. Racist slurs. "Milk dud. Chocolate Charlie. Chollie. Chocolate Hobbit. 8 ball. Sam wise charlie." Just a few of the names Charlie is called on their website. Hate much?
This brings me back to my opening statement. I'm sure not all aggys are this way. I know my aggy friends are not. If they are, they know how to hide it like a sociopath. But they truly can not help themselves. This is who they are and sadly, we sort of, kind of made them this way. We've lorded over them for so long that they are just this way. We morphed them into the kicked dog that still loves his master but hates him simultaneously. It's sick.

This is why I say, I never get mad at aggy. Victor Frankenstein created a monster, though it had few redeeming qualities, it was his monster. Aggy, is ours.

You call us obsessed and spent how long to write this up? Non-obsessed people don't write posts about another school which they claim to be obsessed. Pot...meet kettle.

There, there wasn't anyone else responding to you so I'll get this fired up for you.

I'll be honest about something though. I did come on here and ask about the targeting call which I think many even on this board thought that it probably was. However, an Aggie friend of mine was telling me that the Notre Dame sideline wasn't coming unglued over the situation which was a pretty good point. Had they really thought it was targeting I guess the sidelines would have come unglued. For the other crap, I don't take part in racist comments, I could care less about F250's because I feel like pretty much every school does shady things and I'm immune to it all. I don't know about fixes with ESPN and Texas. I hate to claim a school gets it's games fixed. I know Texas and ESPN are connected so there are some loyalties there no doubt, but I just can't make myself say a game is ever fixed. Will ESPN talk Texas up quite a bit?? You bet they will.

Hang tight clob, this thread will now get going slamming me. Your welcome.

The tears on texags are amazing. They are more pissed off we won than happy they won.

Obsession vs observation----

Obsession would be me on an aggy board posting about aggy even though I'm a texas fan.

If Aggie wins a close team against a ranked opponent but no one outside of College Station noticed, did it really happen? Thats why the Aggies are so mad. They haven't beaten a team worth a flaming bag of dog poop in quite a while, so they were excited. Then they realized that they were overshadowed by LSU crapping the bed, and they started feeling irritated. Then the sports writers got involved and mostly talked about how mediocre both UCLA and A&M looked, and they started getting a little frustrated. All this was going to be fine though, because soon Texas was going to get embarrassed on a national stage and they could walk around with their chests out. Oops. On an absolutely massive stage for a regular season game, Texas announces they are back. No one, and I mean no one, is talking about A&M. So god bless em, they did what Aggie has to do, and started claiming cheating was involved.

Hey I love good football conversations with anyone, and yes trash talking is kind of fun. It keeps the boards alive and well. I post a lot on TexAgs as well. I just stated what I won't be talking about over there. I don't get my feelings hurt on message boards. I enjoy them. Until MM bands me and sends me on my merry way, I'll hang on and try to be respectful, but to my knowledge I'm not breaking any rules. Keep it up clob, I like reading and responding to your junk..I'm sorry, I mean fantastic journalism.

100% correct. They can't even enjoy their win. I don't know if Texas is back, it's too early to tell, but I do know of a fan base that is very nervous about it.

They can't enjoy their win because they enjoy us losing more. It ruined their weekend. They know they don't rate. Nobody's even talking about them and they thought they were hot stuff.

Docag,

I don't post to start "sh!t". In point of fact, I had never posted on any "forum" ever before in my life until I joined OB a couple of years ago to vent my frustrations as a former athlete about Texas hiring the joke of an AD named Steve Patterson. An a$$clown of the first order, I wanted to scream to the heavens (and I did) as well as put as many Texas fans as possible on notice that this guy was a tard's tard. It took a little time but, more and more came around to see Patterson for the nutslap that he was.

I post on here for a few reasons:
1. I love my horns. I want what's best for the athletic department and the University.
2. I love football. It has been and always will be a part of my life. It's the greatest game ever invented.
3. Every so often, I make myself chuckle. Why not share a smile with others if you can?
4. I want to better understand the "group think" of other fan bases. I grew up in a Texas home with Texas alumni relatives. Exposure to other fan bases collect mind sets intrigues me.
5. I stopped reading the newspaper while I'm taking a sh!t and this is more constructive than filling my head with media biased drivel about what's happening in my country and over seas.

clob, spot on with how the stereotypical aggy thinks. Not all think this way, but more do than not. I tell ya, they're a strange bunch. They literally would rather see Texas lose than their own team do well. I wonder how many aggys about stroked out when Texas won the NC in '05, lol?

Maybe some feel that way but I'd rather see an Aggie win any day of the week. I will pull for any team Texas is playing but honestly the Notre Dame game was a great game. I watched the game with 2 Horns that are neighbors of mine. It didn't ruin my night, my weekend, or anything else. But I personally don't know any Aggies that feel like you said. However, by looking at several posts I can certainly see where you would say that.

Doc, you're a reasonable aggie poster here, and that is respected and appreciated. I have several aggie friends who are reasonable/sane about a&m and Texas, and we get along great. However there is a faction of a&m fans, see texags as an example, who are delusional, brainwashed morons, who are out of touch with reality.

Plenty of aggy in Houston with the broken horns on their F150's. Those are the aggys obsessed with UT losing and rather have us lose then them win. I have a few aggy friends and they're cool as hell but never would they have a sticker repersenting anything about UT on their vehicle. They are not haters.

Really? So why are you posting on the Longhorn site obsessively about us instead of celebrating your own squad on your site? You sure seem eaten up with disappointment from the weekend.

Ya but, in his defense, they did get a win. And also in his defense, perhaps he's realized that the cumulative mean IQ over here is in the triple digits instead of the double digits--- like over there.

Very true.

But, much as with pigs who by their immutable nature sleep and root in their own sh*t, I still want nothing to do with those disgusting window-lickers.

Doc....I generally respect other fan base folks that come on here and talk football...even enjoy the "smacking" back and forth. You and I have had several discussions and I have felt that you were a reasonable guy.

However, I will stand right here before you and flat footedly call bullshit on that statement from you. I will accecpt that you dont agree with them....maybe dont even like them...maybe get embarrassed by them...but to say you dont know any?...Wow!

You do know that some people are talented enough to post in 2 different spots right? It depends on where I am. When I travel for work I have some dead time. I check in on several different sites. It would be boring for you Schultzy if we didn't harass you.

The people I know most certainly pull against Texas EVERY game. I've watched several Longhorn games with Ags and yes we are fans of every team that plays Texas because we want you guys to fail pretty much like this board wants A&M to fail, but I swear when the game is done we don't lose sleep over it. I could point out some handles over on Texags that I could say most certainly lose sleep over a Texas win and obsess greatly over it, but I guess I'm saying the people I hang out and actually know and stay in contact with don't feel that way. I guess you could say I've talked to some Aggie fans upon meeting them and they might seem that way at times with constant talk of cheating, conspiracy, etc. I'm just not friends with them.

you said you didnt know them. You dont have to like everyone you know. I know I dont. I can accecpt that you dont hang around those guys....I can accecpt that you might not like them. If you say so, that is good enough for me. What I called bullshit on was that you said you didnt know them.

And for what it is worth...I always pulled for the aggies when we weren't playing them. My honest thought is I want to be better than the aggies because we were better. Not that the aggies would be worse than us no matter what our level was.

I have an honest question for you guys: Was this a bigger win than the OU win last year? I mean at the time, not at the end of the year. That's because this year has just. I was curious because I believe both were ranked #10 nationally at the time if I'm not wrong. I understand the fact that more people watched this game, but other than that was it a larger victory, and if so, why?

The OU game felt like we caught them sleep walking and ran the same offense we had been running but they weren't ready. We didn't put a new product on the field. It just felt like we played harder.
This felt like a different team. A different offense. An exciting brand of football.
Bottom line I don't know that this win was bigger, but it feels like we have a different team now.

Yes.

1. Sets the stage for a potential 9-10 win season.
2. Indicates that we have found the OC, qb and O-line to put points on the board.
3. Team did not surrender in the face of adversity.
4. Changes the narrative with recruiting from 'potential' to 'contender'.

Hook 'em

It was a big win in my opinion for Strong and his team. I think this opens up some eyes and gives the non believers hope. It's 1 game but anyone watching knows Strong pulled in talent. I feel this win was bigger although I love beating OU.

Each big win is a big win until the next big win comes along.....which of your kids do you like best?.. The OU win WAS big...it was over our biggest rival. It was also necessary to the program. It restored faith that was severely tested in Coach Strong. It allowed us to go on to a fabulous recruiting haul. One that though was not top rated*, might have been the best of any school....certainly filling needs.

Longfellow and Rex did a great job in laying out what the ND game meant....It legitimatized the moves and the faith., But it might not be as big of a win as the upcoming OU game would be. If we go on to win 9 games this year it shows that the train is coming. If we win 10 it means the train is already running and you either get on board or get off the tracks.

* not rated number 1 in the country

A&M over UCLA '16 = Texas over Notre Dame '16 = A&M over Arizona State '15 = A&M over South Carolina '14

Until further notice.

I don't watch A&M football so I can't confirm this but I think Notre Dame is possibly a bigger game if I'm just comparing schools. I just don't know what those games meant to aggy.

OU validated that we had talent. It also validated that we COULD show effort for 4 full quarters. It's a good thing and a bad thing. Good being- great! We've got some fighters. Bad being- why the fvck haven't they played this hard thus far!
OU ended UP being a bigger win when they made the playoffs.
ND is the bluest of the blue bloods. Any win over a true blueblood blood is always a big deal. But we don't know how big, YET. If ND runs the table and makes it to the playoffs then, yes, this was as big or bigger of a win.

I think the point he is making is that we have no idea what these wins mean at this point. ND and UCLA could end up being bad teams like USCarolina and Arizona St in previous years.

Okay guys,

I'm out here in Dallas this week visiting some clients and prospective clients. A few things I wanted to say.

Texas vs Notre Dame was a much much bigger game and win than Aggsy vs UCLA, and 11 million viewers would absolutely agree with me. So would a ton of 5'star recruits that are now leaning more heavily towards Texas.

Walker little says hi.
Barron Browning says hi
Dylan Moses says hi
Marvin Wilson says hi

Taquon Graham says Let's Ride!

next, I sat down yesterday with an old friend who Is an Aggsy through and through, he lives in Arlington and his son goes to Lamar. His son plays football and baseball for the Vikings. They are close friends with the Buschele family and he actually admitted to me he was pulling for Texas in that game. BTW Shane is recruiting his son to come to Texas and play baseball. As I understand it he is a hell of a baseball player.

Side note to you guys out there. He is currently looking for a new job, so any of you in the DFW area know of a company that needs a fantastic civil engineer let me know and I will pass it on to him.

Finally, and most important, Aggsy will always be Aggsy until they can love what is happening in college station and not care what is going on in Austin or anywhere else. Case in point, I have a client that is a TCU alum and he never stops talking about how good TCU is, and when I tell him about what Texas is building he laughs it off like Texas will never pass TCU. I just tell him, TCU can be great, but Texas is coming back and it doesn't matter what TCU does, we are coming back.
