at least 11 counties devastated. Houses destroyed, businesses, churches, cars, you name it. And that poor deputy who died trying to save people. That happened in Chico a town 40 miles east of us it was in 2018. Now you know what we go through. I feel badly TX is still my home state most of my family still lives there.

I can tell you this much....I woke up in Surfside Beach yesterday morning and went out on the deck with my morning coffee....wow....thought I was back in Nevada. Couldn't see any ships in the Gulf and the horizon was just thick with smoke. The air smelled like a campfire. I went and picked up my boy at Houston Hobby and then drove back down to Surfside. The wind had pushed the smoke away and you could see shipping again. Don't know which fire was sending the smoke, could have been hundreds of miles away and probably was....

Eastland County has been hit hard but they aren’t bred to be soft cats out that way. A lot of gritty folks. Tough situation for them but they will bounce back strong.

From what I've read one of the counties was in Eastland which is in West TX. That's not a typo. And your gov has declared 11 counties a disaster area.
Interesting, not so much as a peep on local news. Disaster declaration is more about releasing funds than the actual event. That's gov for ya.
Well, prayers to everyone involved.

It made it to about 3 miles away from my grandparents ranch out in Rising Star. It was absolutely devastating. A ton of livestock burned alive. My uncle was going around and putting some of the cows that were still alive out of their misery. There was several fires in different areas from Ranger all the way to Cisco. Pretty devastating.

Awful. Glad their ranch is ok. I almost bought property between Eastland and Cisco about 10 years ago and regret not doing it. I’ve always liked that area. Sad to see this happen.

At the wildfire in Chico I was talking about a family died in their car desperately trying to get out but the smoke overwhelmed them.

So heartbreaking.

We have 300 acres in between Cisco and Rising Star. I love it out there. Here in about 10 years when I retire that’s where I’m moving to.

The smoke could be seen and felt in NW Arkansas on Friday.
