Being habitually open minded and willing to contemplate various positions is difficult. It is a willingness that is rarely if ever exhibited on this board. That, is an undeniable truth. In my view, it requires on some level maturity. Something else that imho is lacking on this board. At the very least, you would have to admit is pales in comparison to partisan opinion...be damned.
As it relates to at least trying to accept the idea of receiving refugees from Syria, I was clearly wrong. My instincts along with many that do not habitually lead with partisan swagger, were correct. True Horn would tell you that I'm a pussy. It has nothing to do with my manhood. It is purely actuarial. Risk/benefit analysis.
Without the aid of my googler, here are my thoughts:
Con
1. ISIS told the world they would slip in as many of their own among the refugees. I don't know if there actions within Syria were designed too produce the refugee crisis. If so, they plan well.
2. Dumping people into a country that is socially, culturally, and legally in opposition to their upbringing really does not do them a tremendous favor.
3. Sharia law and the American/Western legal system will not coexist. But, we should not be naive enough to believe it will not attempt to flourish.
4. If Mr. Obama would pardon my non-politically correct forthrightness, we are at war, at odds, in conflict (pick and choose Mr. O) with Islamic radical terrorists.
5. The real con is that according to Washington it takes 18-24 months to complete the vetting process. So being the caring, loving liberal bunch that exists in Washington we publically announce we want to help. Take a number and wait in Syria for 2 years. We'll get back to you.;)
6. Most of our schools already have, Arabic language teachers on staff.:)
Pros
1.
The UN High Commission on Refugees is in charge. They got this! Just sit back and relax. Historically, you can't beat anything UN with a stick.:)
2. The State Department is involved when the above recommend relocation to America. This is a non-political bunch here. No need to worry about politics getting in the way of "progress". A very prolific group that State Dept is. Just ask any official from Iran.
3. It seems to be working so well for Europe.

Rant over.
