I know these are difficult times, but these coaches all have contracts in place? Your take

What the fvck do you want them to do? Pull money out of their ass?

Some pay>no pay
Contract or not if there is no money it’s hard to get paid. Maybe they can sue China. Is that racist?

what is wrong with calling it the China virus?....seriously?...We had the Spanish flu epidemic in 1918.....we had the Hong Cong flu in the late 60's...It is now racist to put an origin country in the name?.....what is the matter with people these days?

You know the Spanish flu had nothing to do with Spain?

What's wrong with calling it Kung Flu or Chinese Virus?

#1, it encourages discrimination and violence against Asian-Americans. They already get plenty of it from dimwit racists, and since Covid-19, A-A's claim it's gotten much, much worse.

#2, it deflects from the failures here at home. It's one more example of scapegoating to distract from evil actions and inactions by our government. Don't fall for that. This administration is constantly doing outrageous things to distract from the prior one.

Not sure who started the rumor, but the same thing is going on in China. They're blaming the U.S. military for Covid-19.

On another note:
Pandemics reveal who you really are. Early on in this, I bought 50 cheap surgical masks for my family and others we've met who need them. Despite the warnings not to use masks designed for HCW's, we are. We're not using N95 masks--although I do have a partly used one that I'm holding onto--but we're using the cheap surgical masks, as well as homemade ones.

Hey, I'd like to be completely selfless, but I'm convinced this world is a better place with my whole family in it.

Homemade masks don't keep the wearer safe from Covid-19, if influenza is any guide. Every homemade mask is different, of course, and they (fail to) fit each wearer in different ways, but on average they stopped 3% of flu virus droplets, per a study.

Also helpful info: Per an MIT study, sneezes can travel as far as 27 feet, and droplets and an invisible gas cloud can hang in the air for hours. They can get swept into ventilation systems (even vents on the ceiling) and spread throughout the building.

I'm wearing my wife's panties over my head. Good enough?

Skid mark over the nose for added protection.

1 - Calling it Kung Flu is not racist. Uncalled or is probably more like it. I'm sure there are people that think it is funny in some light hearted kind of way. I'm sure there are folks of Chinese descent that are non too pleased. That is the way it has been for a long time. The world has dipshits that don't know where the line is. Always has.

2 - What shortcomings are we referencing? The entire federal government (Dem and Repub both) or the partisan kind of blame game where one ignores the shortcomings of "their" political party?

3 - I'm certainly not going to believe a damn thing China says...lol. If it was in fact the US military then why did the Chinese government silence the doctor back 4-5 months ago? Why are news sources not allowed?

4 - We can all thank the government of New York for their superb failure to try and contain this virus. We really appreciate them taking this thing seriously.

Hornsrule….I consider you one of the better posters on this site, but I cannot disagree more strongly that calling this virus the Chinese virus in any way encourages discrimination and violence against Asians. In fact, how you draw that conclusion astounds me.

Fouci is a soldier for charlie. Get rid of charlie. If you have a problem with Dr. Shiva, you're rayciss.

Where do you come up with stuff like this? There is absolutely nothing racist about calling it the Chinese virus.

Also, let's stop with the political comments, ok?

It's kind of hard to not have political conversations. That is about all we have...unfortunately.

I understand and agree with you. However, 9 out of 10 times political discussions on here turn into a bunch of arguing and insults, which is why they're not allowed. I made an exception to let one go when the Coronavirus started and I regret doing it. It didn't go well at all.

Tell my students the same thing. If you go into a hot topic discussion understanding you're not going to change anyone's mind then you'll be better off.

Present an opinion, offer reasoning and then support with a logical thought. Calling people names because they have a different viewpoint has exhausted its welcome as far as I'm concerned.

Politicians (Repubs and Dems) look out for their lobbyists (#1), their campaign donors (#2), themselves (#3), each other (#4)....a bunch of other things...the American people (#54). The quicker John Q. Public realizes this, the quicker we can rid DC of said problems. Unfortunately, I don't see it happening. We're closer to a Civil War than reconciliation.

Sounds like someone has been taking my classes. Well done sir....well done....

Please tell that to every single person on Facebook!

LOL...it isn't even worth the time. Twitter is probably just as bad.

Hell, now journalists aren't even taking the time to investigate. Everyone just takes things for face value now. It is alarming.

I think like 1 year ago there was an ESPN personality that was duped by a Twitter troll named Barry McCockiner. He said that KD and Russ (I think those two) were on the outs because one of them farted on the other guys pillow and gave him pinkeye. The repeated this shit on NATIONAL TV, lol.

You make political comments yourself, MM, and you ignore the political comments of many -- those who think like you.

Coronavirus is something that requires a response. It affects us all. It affects sports. It can shut sports down temporarily or even make permanent changes to how sports are played and viewed. We'll see.

Some of those responses can be taken in a political sense. Or meant in such a sense. Our focus should NOT be on attacking or protecting a political party, or a politician. Our focus SHOULD be on what we can do to help our families, communities and fellow man to survive this. What can we do to fight it? If someone is acting recklessly -- not taking Covid-19 seriously enough -- then what can we do to convince those people that it's reckless to nurses and doctors to just intentionally catch Covid-19. It risks their lives, and the lives of others who may soon be in contention for the limited number of ventilators.

MM, you and I are not going to agree on racism, apparently. I don't know where you come up with stuff. I believe you're very, very wrong. And vice versa, apparently. We don't know one another, except through this board. We don't know how the other was raised. So we can't really know why that difference exists. We just know that it does.

All I'm asking for is the same respect that I believe I'm extending to you. If you can't do that, you shouldn't be the moderator.

In actuality, you let Clob's political comment go. And maybe political comments of others; I don't recall. And that's when I responded.

I believe that my comment was respectful.

There is no honest reporting any more.It has been almost a year since I was able to get One America News. That was the last hope for "even" reporting. Both Fox and CNN are ridiculous. There is a lot more going on in the world than how good or bad Trump is doing.....but that is all you will see reported.

I'm a red stater, but I flip from Fox to MNSBC from time to time to see what they are covering. I swear we are living in two different countries. 9/11 bridged the divide for about 2 weeks before the fighting reconvened. For corona - it didn't skip a beat. There is no common ground, and now we have an additional $2 trillion piled onto the deficit, with more to come (from even more stimulus AND reduced tax receipts). This is not going to end well.

Comment all you want to on the Coronavirus topic. Just leave political and unfounded racism comments out of it.

It will be $6T when the Fed accrues their portion. We will have a period of inflation. The dollar, which was getting stronger and stronger, will weaken. Unemployment will rise to 1970s levels for a relatively short time. I would guess we'll see 1, probably two more government stimulus checks thrown out there to try and alleviate some of the effects. For every week this goes on, I would imagine it will set us back a month economically. I have no model for that, just a random somewhat educated guess.

Saw yesterday CBS national ran with a story about a nurse given an ultimatum and resulted in here on IG in tears. Turned out to be less than accurate/truthful, but the damage had already been done.

You do know that the word/term/phrase Chinese isn't a Race right? There are a few Racist words that people will call the Chinese, but Chinese in itself is not Racist or a Race. That would be like saying American is a Race. It's a Nationality, thus The Chinese Virus isn't Racist.
