on Saturday afternoon. Starts at 1:30 pdt. Somewhat unusual starting time.

We're starting a four game stretch where have the opportunity to settle some scores.

We lost 4 in a row to Pac XII teams by a combined total of 14 points. We beat SC last night by 23.

Beat SC? ✔

Now comes TCU Man I really want our boys to win this one. 4 losses by 120 points. That is unacceptable at the University of Texas and that includes OK even Bama. I went back and forth during to's and commercials to the TCU/ aholes game. He's obviously an outstanding rb but I think our defense can slow down Darius Anderson. This guy Shawn Robinson will be making only his fourth start. He's about to find out there's not find out there's not much of a talent drop off between the ahole defense and the Texas Longhorns. Barring injures our offense will get better every game. Needless to say they won't put.up the kind of numbers that OK's offense does. But we have a chance to have an outstanding defense and special teams I think we're primed for a TCU payback. Can't wait.

Would be nice. I still have nightmares about the game in Ftw where CS looked like he had seen a ghost. Score after score.

Also, fatterson consistently saying that Texas is overrated needs to be stopped. Hopefully we can run it up next Saturday.

I remember that game so un-vividly. I'd been suffering from stomach flu and I watched the kick off and then had to run to the head..... and when I came out we were down 35-0.

Herman finally put an end to the TCU blowouts last year, but I wouldn’t get too optimistic about beating them yet. Their defense and defensive coach (Gary) are very good and will give our offense hell. And they still have a better offense than we do too.

Did anyone see the reports of a former Big 12 coach and a scout saying only 4 or 5 players from Texas could play at TCU? I think this freshman class is eventually going to change that and sooner than later.

I doubt, very seriously, that only 4 or 5 players from Texas could play at TCU.

I saw a TX team that lost it's composure in the 1st quarter that day. An agonizing game to sit through.

Patterson will have his team prepared and focused and enjoys beating Texas ass after being snubbed from not being invited to the
Big12 for so many years. In fact took great delight in beating strong's Texas team with a bunch of freshman playing on his team.

The snub happened before Patterson was the HC. I believe it was Fran cakes. Still these guys have been playing way above their pay level. Time to come back down to earth. I imagine tOSU flooded the mash unit last night and they will be hobbled. They have a first year qb. We need to welcome him to the league.

You know last year on the opening series of the game TCU a double pass back to the qb. It was a 4th down call and on the play Chris Nelson had his hands in the air and barely missed it. It was like he off by a fraction. I'm sure I'm not the only one on this board who remembers that play. If he had grabbed that ball he would have taken that ball to the house. I know coulda, shoulda, woulda. Instead the qb caught the ball and turned it into a first and goal and they eventually scored. They got on a run and scored 17 points in the first quarter which decided the game. Damn

If I'm patterson, I blitz early and often. Even if I don't blitz, I show blitz. I disguise the sh!t out of the coverages. Hell I'd zone blitz if I can get away with it.

1st and 10? Run blitz. Patterson has seen what happens if he has time, he can hurt you deep. Patterson has seen what happen when Sam tucks and runs-- he looks for contact. I would blitz the ever living sh!t out of Sam and force him to make dumb, ill timed, throws.

Texas will need to figure out how to stop a running QB. The defense usually plays well against pocket guys but as soon as a dual threat comes in everybody is out of position or plays slow.

If TH would only point Sam to the middle of the field where these blitzers would be coming from. The slant will be open for Collin Johnson and LJH who will have huge size advantages over the TCU secondary. Huge yardage every time.

Patterson will blitz off the edge, middle, if it were me, I'd safety blitz us. Watson is the only running back that could see that sneaky trick coming.

Yes, fatty will blitz like crazy. The wild gyrations, rolls convulsing, bad language, and sweat laden clothing is always entertaining. l'd do the SAME to their qb. It will be up to Sam to read and react. Watson will be a huge bonus early. If we can get up, bash them with D Young like we did USC. Our OL is large and should get a push as the game goes on.

Patterson runs a 4-2-5, His nickle guy is actually a third safety type player instead of a third corner type player. He also has a safety that he spun down to one of the LB spots so he has speed guys all over the field. He can get pressure with 4, if he decides to go to 5 he can bring one of the three safetys or one of the two LBS. He has some stuff where he brings 6. He plays some funky hybrid cover 2 concept that is kinda like a match up zone where its hard to tell if he is in Man or Zone behind the blitz. Is not going to be like USC. The only thing I think that we can exploit is their size. I think our best bet is to run right at them. I don't think the pulling stuff we did vs USC will work.

TCU absolutely stuffed the run vs.Texas last year. It was really, really bad. I think the Texas OL and run game is at least somewhat better so far this year and hopefully with an added Sam run threat (Shane played the whole game last year) it will be enough but I'm not too optimistic. Just being real, it's going to be hard to outscore TCU.

It wasn’t until the 2nd half that the running game showed up (vs USC). It’s RB by committee & our QB is our 3rd leading rusher (with no one netting over 200 yards & the QB netting 125, for the season).

That hybrid D is perfect to blitz out of. Keep changing personnel and mixing things up, and Sam will be at his wits end.

Now, how to counter it....

Put Herb Hand in the film room. If anyone can do it, he will. Long time Auburn OL coach. He will know how to beat it. Now executing is another matter. The tOSU film will help a lot.

I think most of the Texas starters would start for TCU. That isn't the problem, the problem is that Gary Patterson can beat you with his guys and then take over your guys and beat you with yours over his.

The pure definition of a elite coach.
Texas has some guys that could start on defense, maybe quite a few, but on offense is there anyone besides LJH and maybe Colin Johnson?

At least, let's bring the same officiating crew.

Go review the TCU tOSU game. TCU is supect on both sides of the ball.

On Offense:
1. Run the ball straight at them. They are undersized. tOSU wore them down with Dobbins.
2. tOSU used bubble screens and standard screens to kill their blitzes.
3. I would add that quick slants to CJ and LJH will be effective as well.
4. Long field goals always help.

On Defense:
1. They are small and quick. Can't let them beat us deep like USC did.
2. Their QB is suspect. He does not have a good deep ball so pressure is imperative.
3. Make the So. QB Robinson win the game. Take away run and deep balls. He will throw intermediate picks. He lacks accuracy.

He also threw a pick6 and fumbled in the end zone against tOSU. Hmmmm.....

You can take this fwiw

I was looking things up about how TX only has 5 players that can start at TCU especially on offense. Well TCU lost 4 out.of 5 ol 5 out of 6 if you count the te. But none of those guys made first team all Big XII. And Shawn Robinson will be making his 5th career start. Sam is a sophmore as well and he's made a few more starts than Robinson. But the greater point is that just like last week we'll be facing a starting qb who's just as unproven as Ehlinger. Somebody on this thread mentioned LJ and CJ as being good enough to start at TCU. Now isn't that interesting? I'm sure clob94 remembers Montae Reagor an AA de at TT. His son is a receiver at TCU and is a good receiver. They also have Kavontae Turpin a multi purpose player. Finally they have Darius Anderson which gives them 3. big play makers on offense. They're bound to make at least a couple of plays. But in his first start against a favored opponent Shawn Robinson threw a pick six and fumbled in the end zone for another td for as*hole U. This is what I mean by just as unproven.

And this just hit me while I was writing this. We were at a terrible disadvantage last year in a matchup of qb's. But think about this. Baker Mayfield is gone. So are Mason Rudolph, Kenny Hill, Sam Darnold, and ISU had a new qb whose name I can't remember. I also don't know if KSU had a new qb. The only top qb who's returning from last year is Will Grier.

You can't tell me this isn't significant. And now I feel better about our chances.

Oh and btw. I don't remember his name but TT had a senior qb as well. That's 6 teams with senior qb's. We lost to 5 of them and we barely beat the other one. And one more time. 5 close losses. To teams which had the first and third picks in the draft. And another who i believe was drafted in the second or third round.

Think about it.

Thought TCU played very well against tOSU except for the two classic screwups by Robinson that led to touchdowns and the blocked punt. tOSU D line better than TCU will see the rest of the season. Maybe Robinson not experienced enough to avoid classic blunders, like Sam last year, but will be surprised if UT wins this game.

We're going to need Ingram and co. to play very good. Sam will need to make better decisions and not hold onto the ball long. Either run or throw it away if nothing is open. Basically we need to play a sound game or it's going to be a long night. Hopefully this team is maturing fast.

They've been blown out the last 4 years
(24-7 is still an ass whipping). TCU speed is an issue, without a pass rush, they'll beat us deep then once adjustments are made they'll torch us in the middle of the field.

Maybe it will be wet and it will come down to the trenches.

Gut feeling, Texas comes out slow once again. 35-17 TCU.
