Cardinals star J.J. Watt emotional, upset after win vs. Panthers following heart procedure

This past Wednesday, JJ Watt's heart went into atrial fibrillation.

An atrial fibrillation, according to the Mayo Clinic, is an “irregular and often very rapid heart rhythm” when the upper chambers of the heart “beat chaotically and irregularly.” This can lead to blood clots in the heart and increase the risk of stroke, heart failure and more.

Doctors shocked his heart back into rhythm on Thursday, and three days later, on Sunday, he played in the Cardinals 26-16 win over the Panthers.

I'm no doctor, but, it just seems to me like it's time for JJ to retire. He's an outstanding football player and, seemingly, an even better man. But he's had so many health and injury issues. He's had a great career, he's in his 11th year in the league, wracked up all kinds of awards (including 3 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, 5x Pro Bowler, 2x Sack Leader, and Man of the Year), and he's a future Hall of Famer.

His wife is expecting their first son this month. He's got family, fame, fortune, glory, and his whole life ahead of him. He should really consider salvaging his health.
