The 2019 Heisman Trophy finalists were revealed Monday, with four players earning invitations to the ceremony Saturday night in New York City.

The finalists are LSU quarterback Joe Burrow, Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields, Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts and Ohio State defensive end Chase Young.

Former Heisman winners and hundreds of media members vote for the award by selecting three players on their ballot. A first-place vote is worth three points, a second-place vote is worth two points and a third-place vote is worth one point. Votes were due Monday at 5 p.m. ET.

Here is more about each of the finalists:

Joe Burrow, QB, LSU
The improvement from 2018 to 2019 for Joe Burrow has been remarkable. Burrow transferred to LSU from Ohio State ahead of the 2018 season and threw for 2,894 yards, 16 touchdowns and five interceptions while completing 57.8 percent of his passes in his first year as a starter. In 2019, in conjunction with LSU’s transition to a more spread-out, pass-happy offense, Burrow has flourished.

The senior led the Tigers to an undefeated regular season, SEC championship and No. 1 seed in the upcoming College Football Playoff. Along the way, he has put up ridiculous numbers. Burrow has thrown for 4,715 yards, an SEC-record 48 touchdowns and just six interceptions while completing a whopping 77.9 percent of his passes. Burrow’s touchdowns and completion percentage rank No. 1 in the country, while his passing yardage is second. And if the season ended today, Burrow would hold an FBS record for completion percentage in a season.

Burrow enters Saturday’s Heisman ceremony as the heavy favorite to win the award. Should that come to fruition, he would be the first LSU player to win the Heisman since Billy Cannon in 1959.

Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State
A heralded transfer from Georgia, Justin Fields has thrived in his first season at Ohio State. Like Burrow, he quarterbacked the high-flying offense of an undefeated team. The Buckeyes, in their first year with Ryan Day as head coach, cruised through the regular season with Fields getting better as the season progressed and the competition got tougher.

Fields finished the season with 302 yards and four touchdowns in a win over Michigan and 299 yards and three scores in the Big Ten championship game victory over Wisconsin. Overall, Fields, a sophomore, has thrown for 2,953 yards while completing 67.5 percent of his passes. But the stat that sticks out most is his 40-to-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio. He has also rushed for 471 yards and 10 more scores on the ground.

Jalen Hurts, QB, Oklahoma
Jalen Hurts is the third transfer quarterback on the list of finalists. Hurts was a standout at Alabama before the emergence of Tua Tagovailoa caused Hurts to leave Tuscaloosa. He landed at Oklahoma and has carried on the tradition of transfer quarterbacks to thrive under Lincoln Riley. Riley’s two previous quarterbacks — Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray — won the Heisman before becoming the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft. Now Hurts is OU’s third consecutive Heisman finalist.

Hurts led Oklahoma to a Big 12 championship and another berth in the College Football Playoff where the Sooners will meet top-ranked LSU in the Peach Bowl. Though he has struggled with turnovers, Hurts has still put up big numbers. He enters the playoff with 3,634 yards and 32 touchdowns passing along with 1,255 yards and 18 scores rushing.

Chase Young, DE, Ohio State
Chase Young is the first defensive player to get invited to New York since Michigan’s Jabrill Peppers finished fifth back in 2016. Young has been the most dominant defensive player in the country on a week-to-week basis. The junior leads the nation with 16.5 sacks and is tied for third with 21 tackles for loss, and he put up those numbers in just 11 games.

Young was especially instrumental in Ohio State’s wins over Wisconsin and Penn State. Young leaped into the conversation following his performance against the Badgers. He finished that afternoon with six tackles, five tackles for loss and four sacks. Weeks later against Penn State, Young went for nine tackles, four tackles for loss and three sacks in the game that clinched the Big Ten East for OSU.

The Heisman is historically an award catered toward offensive players. Charles Woodson became the only defensive player to win the Heisman back in 1997. Aside from Woodson, only two players have finished as the runner-up: Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o (2012) and Pittsburgh defensive lineman Hugh Green (1980). In addition to Green, only five defensive linemen have finished in the top five of voting, with Ndamukong Suh being the most recent in 2009. Now Young has joined that elite group.

Who got snubbed?
Some of the notable snubs include the top three rushers in the nation: Oklahoma State’s Chuba Hubbard, Wisconsin’s Jonathan Taylor and Ohio State’s J.K. Dobbins.

Hubbard leads the nation with 1,936 rushing yards and can become the second player in Oklahoma State history to rush for 2,000 yards in a season, joining 1988 Heisman winner Barry Sanders. Hubbard has topped the 100-yard mark in all but one of OSU’s games and has gone for more than 200 yards four times this season.

Taylor finished sixth in Heisman voting as a freshman and ninth as a sophomore and has rushed for at least 1,900 yards in all three of his seasons. Now at 1,909 yards on the year (second-most behind Oklahoma State’s Chuba Hubbard), he can reach the 2,000-yard mark for the second straight season with at least 91 yards in the Rose Bowl against Oregon. Taylor is three yards away from becoming No. 4 all-time in rushing yards in NCAA history. Despite those numbers (in just three seasons) he will go a third year without being included in the Heisman ceremony.

Dobbins is third in the nation with 1,829 rushing yards and has been on a tear over the last handful of weeks. In Ohio State’s last three games, Dobbins has combined for 540 yards and seven touchdowns. Dobbins has rushed for at least 120 yards in nine of the 13 games he has played, including a 211-yard, four-touchdown outing in Ohio State’s win over Michigan.

Chase Young should not even be invited after his suspension and he was pretty much neutered and rendered useless against Michigan and Wisc. To end the year.

Burrow and Fields had good years and props to Hurts for going from bench rider to Heisman finalist,

FB Tiger fans are saying Texas handed Burrow the Heisman. If you recall Murray won the Heisman against Texas in the CCG last year. I’m starting to see a trend here FB? :D

How is anything in that post trolling or untrue?

That's because Texas was the only game where the score was close in the fourth quarter, and the only game he had to push it on each drive. Being that OU has to play them, you might want to temper things until after the game. I can see OU getting blown out in this one. Your defense won't stop LSU and Hurts is not very good when he's getting a lot of pressure, which LSU will definitely be able to bring.

So three Heisman contenders are grad transfer quarterbacks who were passed over at their first school. UT passed on Charlie Brewer and promoted Sam over Shane Buchele. Interesting.

Did you watch the Wisconsin game? Dude was at least doubled every snap...while it may not show up in the stats, he is the most disruptive defensive player in the country and its not close. Every team who plays OSU will now have to gameplan around Chase Young. There is no question about that. Then you couple it with his stats and most definitely deserves to be there and in the conversation.

Yeah well that’s not the post he @weevilcatch was responding to. You appear to be convoluting my posts. Respond to the respective post. Further, it’s not me saying Texas handed Burrow the Heisman, it’s LSU fan and I posted a link

How about you couple in his suspension for accepting a “loan”? He missed 2 games(slap on the wrist). So he sits out 2 games then gets shutdown in the 2 most important final games of his regular season? I don’t care if he was doubled or not, a a Heisman contender, and in his case, being mentioned as one of the greatest of all time, is expected to show results and he didn’t when it mattered most, sorry

Oh and btw, I bet Grinch is not going to let Burrow get too comfortable in the pocket like others have this year. Our Dline wil have success shooting their gaps imo.Not guaranteeing a win but I think Burrow’s uniform will be plenty dirty when it’s over.

That is an interesting point

How is anything in that post trolling or untrue or would upset a Texas fan? Are you an OSU fan too?

Saying Chase Young doesn't belong is ridiculous. Your sunshine pumping of Hurts is stupid. Hurts is the absolute weakest of those candidates and I would take Dobbins over Hurts.

Of course I assume you'll disagree...as an OU fan.

Has nothing to do with being an OU fan, Young isn't standing in the way of Hurts winning anything.Young didn't deliver when it mattered most, no he does not belong.

If Burrow would have got shut down his last 2 games and sat out 2 others due to questionable choices do you think he'd win? No he wouldn't. If you're being touted as the highest graded DL player of all time, you show it. Reggie White was constantly double teamed but he had plenty of results to show for it. What you had here was as the year went on, people doubled Young and neutralized him, end of story. If you watched his last 2 games he was totally taken out of his element and his body language showed it.

For the record, I believe Fields and Burrow are both more deserving that Hurts but the voters obviously felt he at least deserved an invite to NY.

Chase Young Stats on 11 games:
44 Tackles, 21 Solo tackles for loss, 10 assisted tackles for loss, 17 sacks, 7 forced fumbles, 6 QB hurries, 3 pass breakups.
Leads the country in sacks by 2.5, second in TFL by 1.5.

In the CCG, he had 7 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and 2 QB hurries. That isn't shut down.

And this happened more often than not in the Wisconsin game.At least be honest with yourself.

Again against stiffer competition and when his team needed him the most he simply couldn’t come through as anywhere near one of the greatest of all time much less Heisman worthy. Those stats are pedestrian and in no way Heisman consideration worthy. The media these days are too concerned with anointing someone the next greatest

BTW, I think it’s comical you omitted posting his stats from the Michigan game, their biggest rival. I wonder why? Could he be because he laid a big fat egg? LOL. Yep one of the greatest of all time alright.

Yes, it does. It has everything to do with you being an OU fan. It also has everything to do with your constant posting about Hurts winning a Heisman...over and over and over.

I think Cedee Lamb was snubbed for this award. Much more deserving than Hurts.

But alas, this hype award has turned into another QB award and its BS.

Penn State: 5 Solo, 4 assits, 2 solo TFL, 4 assisted TFL, 3 sacks. Definitely pedestrian.
First game against Wisconsin: 6 solo, 5 solo TFL, 4 sacks. Again pedestrian.
Serious question, have you watched any Ohio State games and actually watched Chase Young the schemes against him?

Ram, I don’t know what you do not get, as the year went on teams doubled him like they do any good lineman. His last 2 games which were the 2 most important were absolutely nothing to be impressed by. He got manhandled and shutdown against Michigan. He’s a fine player and all but one of the greatest or even a Heisman contender he is not imo. We’ll have to agree to disagree.

He was constantly doubled and bear hugged by Michigan. Lots of video showing such.

Has anyone noticed that all 3 qbs that will be in NYC are xfrs?

In fact this will be the 3rd time that the Heisman winner was a transfer.

Is this the new era of Heisman winners?

Come on, Bell. If you think that Hurts is more deserving of Heisman consideration than Young, then you are just being a delusional 0U fan. There is no comparison on who the better football players is, and it's not even close. Chase Young by a thousand miles. Young will have a LOT more votes than Hurts will.

Nobody has said that Hurts is a better player than Young? How would you even compare the contributions of an offensive player to a defensive player? I will say this though when you accept a ‘loan’ and get suspended for 2 games you shouldn’t be rewarded for that nor for getting shutdown and manhandled by your biggest rival.

Your assertions that Hurts would win the Heisman over Young is proof that you feel this way. Hurts can't hold Young's jock when it comes to playing football. NFL scouts are drooling over Young, not Hurts.

Does it really matter? Neither are winning it anyway

Oh come on fellas . . . Let Bells root for his guys . . . We do the same sheet. I said it before and ill say it again, both Murray and Mayfield were better than Hurts.

Just my opinion. LSU kid clearly the guy this year. And in other news . . . Texas just picked off Hurts again . . . and still lost.

Now back to your double wide Bells . . . before my Christmas spirit goes from green/red to sunset colored! :D

Murray and Mayfield were both better than Hurts. Fields and Burrow are both better than Hurts. Young is a better DE than Hurts but his questionable moral decision and subsequent suspension as well as subpar performance at the end of the year don’t impress me. Am I saying Hurts deserves a Heisman over Young because he’s a better football player than Young, absolutely not

We’re talking about potentially winning a Heisman despite his questionable moral decision that got him suspended DURING the playing season. Apparently that’s not a detriment? I’m just not going to Jim Jones the Chase Young kool-aid
