I know they're the enemy school across the Red River and all and this a Longhorn board. But from what I've noticed about their recruiting class that all of their 4* recruits are from other states only Jackson is from Texas. I mean they've been recruiting in Texas for literally 70 years. Of course you should never rate a Stoops class as mediocre. But I've noticed that the last few years they haven't recruited in Texas much. You know they have a new oc who plays a pass happy offense something similar to the offenses that TX high schools play. Also he played qb at TT so I'm sure he had contacts in TX. They still have a lot of good plays from TX just sayin

a&m, Baylor, TCU's success has diluted the field. They will still get good players, but, they have more competition now than in years past when it was pretty much Texas and ou getting the top Texas talent.

But I do wonder if Oklahoma's not recruiting in Texas as much is playing a factor in so many of the top players in Texas going to SEC schools. I mean Oklahoma will always be attraction to hs plays in Texas.

OU lost two Texas HS players, Daniels and Cobb, but flipped Jackson and are still in on a few others. Stoops has had some success in California, both Fresno and the Bay Area (Mixon, Samia), probably due to contacts Mike Stoops or Kish had in Arizona. And a few jucos from PA. Overall, not a bad class. Not what OU, or the Horns, were hauling in 10 years ago but with TCU, Briles, A&M and the SEC lots of sharks in the water.

Its actually been a slow devolution of Stoops relationships with Texas HS coaches. Broken promises and lies have that effect.

The 5 star LB is favored to go to them. Hope he picks Notre Dame instead. They've made a late charge.

Come on maestro, enlighten us? Tell us all how he lied to Lane Johnson now the highest paid RT in the NFL. Tell us how he lied to Trent Williams the highest paid LT in the NFL. Tell us how he lied to Gerald mcCoy the highest paid DT in the NFL. Tell us how he lied to Adrian to get him his highest paid running back salary. And yes poor old Demarco Murray and how he was lied to.

We are waiting.

Haha. So much buffoonery I'm not really sure where to start? Let's see if JSTO has the selective ignore feature on today. Hey Great Kreskin, I heard Hansen has the best chance to be the starter at OU this year. Lulz

It is weird so few HS players from Texas signed for OU. Maybe the lowest number since Bud since Merrill Greene to Abiline in 1951. But still not a bad class for OU. Guess the Cali guys made up for losing Daniels. Will see in a few years.

I would never downgrade an Oklahoma class as long as Stoops is there. And that 5* lb improves their class.

How embarrassing for Enabler U. to get donkey stomped by the Horns in recruiting after only winning 5 games. How embarrassing for Enabler U. to get bitch slapped on the field this past year by a Longhorn team that couldn't complete a forward pass. NOW, the Horns are getting major talent the last 2 years and are going to dominate year after year.

I predicted this--now maybe throw in Cougar High. Stoops got a pretty good class, but the grind of trying to get good players OOS will take its toll. This could push him to retire in a few years, or perhaps move to the NFL or another school. So, maybe Herman goes to OU someday?! Anything is possible, especially down the road.

OU's presence in the state of Texas has been greatly reduced, there is no denying that. It's been trending that way for years now. Some years are better than others but the overall trend is still down. They do a good job at getting some elite OOS guys to make up some of the difference. Stoops is a great coach though and develops guys nicely.

Well that settles it.

OU has one foot out the door and eyeing the B1G with the change in recruiting grounds. Their efforts started moving out of Texas several years ago. Average class with a nice cherry on top to finish.

Yes. We took Daniels and Southall from them and they also offered Elliott. WHIFF! :D
Daniel's loss was huge. Were we really in on Southall? Not sure he was much interested in us at all, or vice verse really. There was talk in the last week, but I think that was more to potentially shore up the loss of Daniel to you guys. Either way, we struck out on what I think is always a position of need...a quality DT.

My "disappointment" is not in who we got, or didn't get. Very happy in that regard. My major issue with this class is we need to figure out why we lost what we did at the end, then figure out a way to stop that from happening again.

Other than that, as always, I trust our coaches to bring in good athletes that fit our needs, regardless of ranking.

As long as Stoops is there Oklahoma will always have a solid class. And players like Charles Tapper show that Oklahoma can find good players from other states. But they've always been an attraction for some of the top players in Texas, only UT can surpass that. A late flip to Baylor I'd never thought I'd see that happen.

Several people described Southall as a strong OU lean and likely commitment even before Daniels originally committed to OU. He officially visited OU in November, and OU staff paid him a visit in early December. The early 247 CBs on Southall had him picking OU. Eight of the nine recruiting analysts that CB'd him to Texas made their picks just two days ago.

I'm not sure when OU coaches saw the writing on the wall and backed off, but they were definitely after him until recently.
