Losing Robinson to Saban...

Really.

I mean lets be honest, he never had Robinson. Kid wanted to go to Bama. End of story.

Mack and every coach in America (except Saban) "missed" on Robinson. Everyone and their mom offered him and recruited him.

Guess we should talk about every other player that Mack missed on. Pretty much Mack missed on 97.667% of the NFL players all of whom didn't attend Texas. And Briles has missed on 99.111% of the NFL guys who are not from BU. C'mon.

he was committed to texas until right before signing day

And Johnny Manziel was committed to Oregon......until he decommitted.

Verbals mean very little these days. What could Mack have done to "keep" him???? The way it works in recruiting is it doesn't matter if you are the bridesmaid....only the bride. Shoulda woulda coulda.

Go back and read why the kid PICKED Bama. It is what it is. I wish we coulda had Adrian Peterson in the backfield with Vince Young and Ryan Mallett and Andrew Luck following VY, but then we'd have missed on Colt.

Kid picked Bama, why the sour grapes? Good for him. I absolutely love my alma matter and as such think it is a great place to play. And still can sit here and admit the kid might have made what amounted to a good decision. And that decision was HIS. Not Macks. Its not like Mack yanked his offer or never offered him. He just lost out in the final decision. So what? Its not like we bought him a car and then he committed to SMU (hello Dickerson and ATM).

Robinson has about as much character as Lumpy Lampkin.

Remember he kept saying he was solid to Texas and all along he was going to pull a signing day switch, but one of the $9.95'rs blew his story.

Difference between Peterson and all the rest that were mentioned in this thread, was Robinson was committed HERE until NSD. You guys really took this thread for more then it was. Only other guys I can remember that decommitted this late was Bennet and Periloser and both of those left several days before NSD if I remember right. We just didn't lose guys on NSD historically under Mack, and this to me kind of marked the end of his tenure as the super recruiter.

Mack's tenure as a super recruiter ended well before that. The reason we didn't lose a lot of NSD guys is because Mack didn't want to fight for many players. He wanted his offer to commit ratio to look good. That and an a lack of emphasis on the OL sent us into a tailspin as soon as Colt was gone.

Robinson didn't signal anything regarding Mack that wasn't already known to anyone who could read between the lines. Robinson scenarios happen every year and to some great coaches these days. The recruiting coverage these days makes the recruits feel like they need to supply the circus. It's just something every coach has to live with.

We coulda had Saban instead of what we have too! And could have been playing for the natty last night! The richest school in the US and they held out for shit for a couple millions more

The guys at Belmont a buncha stooges!

From my understanding it wasn't a money issue. Patterson wanted his guy and he did not entertain that option even though boosters were working behind the scenes communicating with Saban's agent.

Except as someone pointed out, much like Perriloux.....he kept publicly trolling UT by saying he was here and all along planned Bama. It upset us, but he was never planning on coming here. It was less about Mack and more about him.

Someone even talked about how his plan was outed by a recruiting service.

Ashawn was a little bitch, he got bood off the court for acting like a baby in the state finals at the Drum.

Ashawn is a really good college football player that we could use. I'm looking forward to see what kind of recruiting class Strong can put together.
