There's probably not a better man in all of College Football. Richt will be missed, I hope he finds a good job somewhere.
I've heard nothing but good things about Richt, but how does a guy go 15 years without winning a thing for their program? You would think he would have won at lease a conference title in the time he was there. Georgia is a program that should be contending every year, and winning something at lease once every 4 to 6 years. A great coach could do what Saban did for Bama. It's a program where winning should be easy.
Need to check your facts there bud.
In 15 years at Georgia:
-Record 145-51
-Season ending Top 10 team 7 times, highest was a No. 2 in 2007
-2 Conference Championships
-6 Divisional Championships
Agreed that he probably should have won more but "go 15 years without winning a thing for their program?" don't think that is correct or does the man any justice. He's been very successful there. A lot of coaches would kill for that resume.
My mistake, I didn't realize he won the conference twice, but he never played for or won the MNC. Would we have kept Mack for 15 years if that was all he did at Texas?
You also have to understand that UG plays by a much tougher set of rules than does the secsecsec over all. They have higher academic standards. They also have an honor code that the rest of the secsecsec doesnt live up to. How many times did they kick a stud off the team that Bama or someone else scooped up and let become all conference?
