Not 100% sure, but I believe Marcus Carr is sitting this one out. Otherwise, yes, looking forward to seeing all the others do.
Even when Shaka was here we were good on defense, so that’s not a surprise. Our problem most nights was scoring. I’m skeptical that hiring Beard changes that. His teams aren’t exactly known for putting up points.
Beard style of basketball is different, Shaka was good on defense but Beards teams play with more intensity. He didn't make it to a natty for no reason

No I didn’t. Texas held many teams to one of their lower point totals of the season several times over the last 3-4 years. The reason we lost games most times was poor shooting, and offensive execution
I agree but when we have lost the last few years it’s been because we couldn’t score.
That's.... Not why we lost. It didn't help things but it's not WHY we lost. See: Davis, bo. As for last night, we ran Spain action on the opening tip. I never saw Spain action the last 6 years. I saw deep post-ups-- we had all kinds of NBA talent the last 6 years and didn't see anybody posting IN the paint. So, if you're concerned about x and I, it's already better.
Great to see that we have a legitimate low post scoring threat with Tre Mitchell. We haven’t anything close to that since LaMarcus Aldridge. That’s going to open up our scoring options immensely. Especially valuable come tournament time.
If Disu can get healthy, this is a final 4 team. The motion on offense will generate points. Shaka's stand around offense was the problem last year. The ball screen offense sucked and the last second jack or drive into 2 players was lazy offense.
I forgot about Disu. He’s an elite rebounder and has a good enough outside shot that opposing defenses need to honor him. With him and Mitchell playing inside out, that’s going to leave lanes open to the basket for our guards and wings to drive.
This team is going to be a problem for a lot of teams. Including Gonzaga this Saturday.
I could see them winning on Saturday. Gonzaga isn’t going to have Mark Few. He’s serving a suspension from his DUI. They are breaking in some young guys. Our guys even though they haven’t played together long. They’ve played a ton of basketball.
I'm a little bit late on this thread. What I want to see is what happens when we play TT in February. Those are going to be emotional games. I wonder off it will get ugly.
Like I said in an earlier post. Chris Beard doesn’t solve your offensive problems.
It’s one game against a very experienced Gonzaga team. That game isn’t the end all tell all for anything. Gonna take a little while for these guys to get some chemistry together.
These early season games have little to no game planning on opponents. Both teams will play much differently as you get into conference and tournament play. If this were a March Madness game we won’t be allowing Timme to play against single coverage. Not a bad showing for us overall. Certainly gives the coaches something to work with.
First half was a disaster, if Texas would of kept it close in the first half they had a chance. We outscored the zags in the second half.

Yeah. They didn’t have a plan against Timme. Beard got out coached. That’s not gonna happen too often, but Few kicked his ass
Disu is out. It would have been a different game if he were healthy. We lost by 12 on their court. Not bad.
Yeah but honestly if they had come out with a better plan to start the game. Might of won. Lost by 12 but we were down 20 at half. Imagine if we had went in the locker room down 10 or 12
Man, shut up. You don't know what you're talking about. You just want to be negative. I didn't see last night's game but losing to a ranked team by 4 isn't a reason to throw up your hands and say "oh here we go again!" I've said this before-- some of y'all are little beeshes.
No one is jumping off a cliff yet. This loss doesn't mean we won't have a good year, but it is another data point that shows we are not a top 10 team. We went 1 - 13 from 3pt range, and lost the battles down low. Not a good combination, but plenty of time to get it going.
