I found this out a few weeks ago but wanted to share this on Veterans Day.
I knew my Grandfather Joe Edgar Rodgers was in the Army and died when I was three years old.
What I didn’t know that he was wounded at the Battle of Bataan and won a Purple Heart among many awards after being a POW for 3.5 years during World War II.
The American and Filipino POW’s were tortured by the Japanese and I could only imagine what my Grandfather went through.
I would have loved to have spent time with him later in life.
Thank you to my late grandfather and the sacrifice he gave his country.
