As the nation's No. 1-ranked recruit overall, college football fans are highly intrigued with Marvin Wilson's every move. Last week, it was Texas Longhorn fans who were glued to their keyboards after Wilson took a Tuesday visit to take in a UT practice.

For Wilson, who has been on the UT campus a few times, it was a chance to see the Longhorns in action and also get some time around the Texas coaches. Overall, it was a successful visit.

"I just went up there to see what the team was looking like, see what the team would be like in the future," Wilson said. "I got to talk to coach (Charlie) Strong, talk about my future."

Wilson, a 6-4, 320-pounder out of Houston Episcopal, spent time talking to all the coaches on the Texas staff. The UT coaches stressed to the five-star talent how badly he's needed and that he'd have the opportunity to play alongside players with whom he's already familiar.

"They said they could see me come in, come play with guys like Jeff (McCulloch, Jordan Elliott, all the Houston guys coming in," Wilson said. "They said 'You could come in and play with guys you're familiar with, have known all your life.'"

Wilson was accompanied on the visit by his mother and a few Episcopal teammates. Perhaps just as important as Wilson having a good visit, his mother also liked what she saw.

"She likes Texas a lot. It's really close to home, so she can come up there any time," Wilson said. "She really likes it. And she really likes coach Strong a lot."

Wilson earned an invitation to the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge after a dominating performance at the Rivals Camp Series Dallas event last month. At that event, which will take place this summer, he'll be releasing a top 10. After last week's visit to Texas, the Longhorns will make the cut.

"Texas secured the spot. The visit was a great visit," Wilson said. "They've always been one of my favorite schools. They'll definitely be in my top 10."

Wilson has had a busy couple months. Along with hitting a couple camps and the Texas visit, he also spent time visiting Ole Miss, Florida State, Alabama, LSU and Texas A&M. He said he's shutting things down for the spring and will not take any more visits, and he's still working through who all will fill out his top 10.

"I'm still trying to work it out, but Texas is in. They locked it in with the visit last week," Wilson said.
