Even Dabo said he knew when NC scored they would go for 2 and I was thinking wtf? Maybe Mack was trying to seize momentum but I would have taken the 1 and go to over time
Uh the Boise game was a higher scoring affair, neither Clemson or NC had proven they could move the call with much ease the entire game, this the reason for the low scoring game. I would have gone for 1 myself.I don't blame him for going for 2. Boise did it against OU in the bowl game and no one thought that was stupid. I had more issues with the call. Slow developing play isn't going to work. Rolling right and then throwing back to a TE sneaking to the back of the end zone would have been my call.
It's only a bad call because it didn't work. That was disappointing seeing Mack throw away the game with 2pt try. They were stopping Clemson all game. I would have liked my odds in OT against themassuming they held them on next drive. Very bad decision IMO.
True, my only contention with it was that it was a low scoring game so in my feeble mind the chances of sticking the ball in the end zone on 2 consecutive plays seems like the odds would be greatly against NC. That’s the only reason I thought it would be prudent to take the extra point and go into overtime with a plan and some timeouts. It's only a bad call because it didn't work.
Had it worked, mack is on the short list for "coach of the year" .
Even if they got it. Clemson still gets the ball with 1:17 left to just get in field goal range to win. It's only a bad call because it didn't work.

This was my thought as well. I like going for two if the clock was more favorable. But if you convert the 2pt try you still have a chance to lose. If you fail the 2pt try the game is over.Even if they got it. Clemson still gets the ball with 1:17 left to just get in field goal range to win.
