Nick Saban

Like I said college football expectations have gotten way out of wack. When you are criticizing a team/coach for not winning by enough points…. Uh yeah

Now THIS is a real coach!

It is easy to say this when you are winning the way he is. Sorry, I do not give him as much credit for saying that. Most other coaches will want to say that and completely feel that way. But, they can not because they are not winning and such a rant will be seen as defensive.

Here's the deal Saban can say that because he's shown he's the real deal. Last time I checked his team wasn't dropping in the coaches poll etc. after a closer than expected win. This same spin doesn't work with other coaches, say Riley because his teams have shown a propensity to be who they appear to be when eeking out wins. Just my .02

This

When Bama has a scare it feels like a one off/aberration ... when it happens at ousux or (and others) it seems more like an indication of hidden deficiencies starting to show through.

I'm an OU fan but I try to call a spade a spade, Probably because I'm jealous of their outrageous salaries

All fan bases are like this. Saban is just saying it because obviously they have a dynasty going and fans are getting complacent. That would irk me as a coach.

I would even go to the extent of stating that the criticism of Bama underperforming this year compared to their previous years is valid. It is a statement of fact. Saban just twisted the situation to rant and appeal to his players and recruits. For all you know, this might have just been set up.

Underperforming? They literally have a chance of still being in the playoffs. Problem is the fans just think it’s so easy. It’s like giving someone that makes $500 a year $1million and them complaining it’s still not enough. They are still a winning program and Alleybama should be happy.

I’d love to believe that, but we’ve got our share of idiot fans just like anybody else. Except aggy, they have an entire conference’s share of idiots.

anyway, I still believe Saban was on his way to Austin if Mack Brown hadn’t cockblocked him.
And for this very reason Mack Brown will forever have a place in Sooner hearts

Says the guy that has already thrown in the towel on 8-2 Chris Beard because he lost to 2 ranked teams while retooling the entire roster. I agree with you - expectations are WAY out of whack.

Since he left Michigan State, I’ve slowly found a level of respect for him as a college coach I never thought possible.

I never said throw in the towel on Chris Beard. Quit making stuff up. I said his style isn’t going to solve the problems Texas has had for much of the last decade. He will do well here, but Texas fans will end up frustrated with him.

What does this have to do with Nick Saban, which is the title of the thread? 🤷‍♂️
