Gameday is celebrating their 25th anniversary this Saturday where it first started ND/MI in 1994.

It was the show that catapulted not only ESPN's college fb coverage but probably the whole network as well. Think about that I mean Gameday is not just a cash cow it's a huge cash cow. It's probably provided money for other programs. And ESPN not ABC is the primary network for college fb coverage. And now the Gameday cast are like rock stars. There are Herbstreit, Howard, etc... even Corso sightings. Two years ago they were in Seattle for the SC/WA game. Now Gameday starts at like 6 am Pacific time but there were at least 10,000 people there for the show. I mean it was in the dark the first hour. Hey when they made their first appearance in Austin for a NB game I felt like the Longhorns had arrived. But after awhile I thought you know it's not like they're gods. I'm no genius but they don't say things that other fans figure out for themselves. Just thinking since it's opening weekend for college fb season it might be a good time to talk about it. What do you guys think about Gameday?

number one thing about gameday is that it usually crowns the weekend's highlight game.....the game to watch...not always but usually they're right

Not this weekend. They have LV/Bama as the primetime game. WA/Auburn and ND/MI are better matchups. But you know what the ND and Bama games will go head to head on tv and even though ND/MI is the better matchup the Bama game will clobber them in the ratings. Hey, they're ESPN.

Herbstreit is a self important hypocrite but I still watch.

And I want you to watch for something. If Fox/FS1, CBS, or NBC has the top game of the weekend don't be surprised if Gameday sets up shop at their game. Last year they did it at OSU, and Auburn. This weekend they're going to ND even though it's on NBC. They're flexing their muscles at the competition it's not an accident. See how many times they do it this year.

My favorite part of GameDay is the behind the scenes looks at some of the stories that don't get a lot of light otherwise. Like a short E:60. That's the reason I watch the show.

Only 25 years? I could've sworn I was watching Gameday in '91 when Corso said Texas had no chance against Houston. Maybe that was just a Saturday morning Sportscentef show that later morphed Gameday?

I used to love Gameday, when they moved it to 0600 that was it for me. I used to get up early every Saturday just for Gameday. Not now, I'll catch it once I'm up but I sure as hell wasn't going to "fall back" another hour in the fall, just to watch it. It's the one show that would always get my son up early on a Saturday but the move killed it for him too. Although now that he's back East, he is looking forward to watching it in its entirety again.
