Ok don't trash me for this, just thinking out loud here. I know we all want some big name OC to come in and save the Longhorns and I know it has been discussed about the uncertainty for the future and how that may or may not affect the hiring of a big name. I want to throw out a name that had not been mentioned. Todd Dodge. Here's why:1) very good QB coach which is what we need 2) understands the hurry up spread very well 3) has ties with Texas high school coaches and our 2017 QB commit is tearing it up at Westlake right now 4) UT ties-former QB. I know he stunk as a college head coach at NT but he does know offense. He could end up for us like Chad Morris did at Clemson.

I love Todd as a guy that will------ always make sure you have a good time. The stories about him in the locker room were legendary when I got to school. I've partied with him before (Bam Bam was there too) Steve from Freer for those of you that don't know, and Todd is one of the coolest cats around. But with that said, there's some baggage there. He's slowed down a bit since he took the Marble Falls gig after being torched at North Texas, I'm just fearful of the blowback of hiring him. Again, I LOVE the guy. He can get down with the best of them when the beer starts flowing....... But there is a potential for problems there. Not casting aspersions, not at all, I just know Todd is a fun, fun guy.

No thanks on Todd Dodge, for a variety of reasons. I've read a couple of comments from knowledgeable people that Dodge is fairly well hated by a good number of Texas high school coaches, to the point that recruiting UNT-level talent was a problem for Dodge when he was head coach there. Maybe someone who knows more can clarify, elaborate, falsify, etc.

Will CS hire someone that might replace him?

This is not even the tiniest concern.

For starters, Texas is not going to hire someone without a successful head coaching background as our next football coach. And even if we would, Strong's concern is doing a good enough job next year to be allowed to remain for a fourth year, not worrying about how someone on his staff might perform too well. He needs everyone on his staff next year to do outstanding work.

if there's one thing I know about Dodge- is he's one of the best X's and O's guys around. The reason other coaches don't like him is he beat their ass up, down, and side ways when he was at SLC. Now he's at Westlake beating ass again. People don't like other people who beat them. Otherwise he's very respected in HS football.

That's definitely true, but the alleged nastiness of the ill will makes one think it had to have additional ingredients.
