Mack had a 9 year stretch where they won 10+ games every year and had 2 national championship game appearances. That’s a stretch of dominance IMO. Ultimately though winning it all is hard to do. Bama just makes it look easy and we are just never going to be them. It's been 40 years almost since Texas was dominant. Mack was good but only dominant for 1 season. Texas football has been on a downward trajectory since 1983. When will we come out of it?
I've noticed football fans have a severe case of amnesia when it comes to losses, but total recall with wins.Mack had a 9 year stretch where they won 10+ games every year and had 2 national championship game appearances. We have been mediocre 30 of the last 40 years and that’s what gets me when people act like this is something new. It is what it is as this point.
The cold, hard truth is we are a FB blue blood only in the history books. Recruits don’t care about history. They aren’t persuaded by the legend of Darrel Royal, Bobby Layne or Knute Rockne - cold, hard truth. Today’s recruits (15-17 year olds) began paying serious attention to FB around the year 2010. Since that date, there are arguably only 2-4 FB blue bloods and we ain’t one of them. It will be a while - if ever - before we get back to that level year after year. It's been 40 years almost since Texas was dominant. Mack was good but only dominant for 1 season. We will, it will be when most of us are dead or are too old to care. We will prolly get good by sheer money and positional momentum alone by 2030 but who wants to wait that long? The cold, hard truth is we are a FB blue blood only in the history books. Hasn't it always been that way for college fb fans?I've noticed football fans have a severe case of amnesia when it comes to losses, but total recall with wins.
