- seems like Blue Bell Creamery is always in the news for something. Most of the time it's due to a new product announcement. Earlier this year the Texas brand was at the head of a controversy where people would film themselves licking the ice cream in the supermarket freezer and place it back on the shelf. Now, the ice cream brand is in the news once more and this time it's for a recall of their Blue Bell Butter Crunch ice cream.
According to the FDA, Blue Bell Ice Cream is voluntarily recalling a select lot of half-gallon Butter Crunch Ice Cream produced in its Sylacauga, Alabama plant due to the possibility that the products may contain a foreign object. The issue was discovered when Blue Bell was notified by a customer who found a piece of a plastic tool inside their half gallon of Butter Crunch. Because of this, the company is recalling a full day of production to make sure no one else finds the broken tool in their product. So far no reports of injuries have been reported.
The recalled product includes the production code located on the top of the packaging lid: 082621222. The ice cream was distributed to parts of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. All affected stores have been advised to remove the product from the shelves. Customers such use an abundance of caution if purchasing the flavor.
