Hard to believe it’s been 50 years since she won her first major tennis tournament (winning both the French Open and Wimbledon in ‘74). She became “America’s Darling” that year and she and her “bad boy” boyfriend Jimmy Connors stimulated an unprecedented 1970s tennis boom in the U.S. (a little bit like the pickleball craze now) when it seemed like everybody started playing the game.
