OT: Cost To Repair/Replace Tankless Hot Water Heater

Just moved into a house. The tankless hot water heater is making a horrible buzzing sound. Repair dude said it was the fan.

Heater was installed in 2009.

He said repairing it was just throwing money away because the heater is past it's life expectancy but he wants 6k to put in a new one.

The actual heaters are only like 2500...so I'm wondering - is that an accurate price or the rip off price?
