Yeah, yeah, I know. Cattle car. Poors. Etc.

But for those of us that fly SWA a lot, the twice a year hack is back.

You can buy $500 worth of Southwest Airlines’ gift cards for $430 at Costco.com.

I load up on these (max is $2500) twice a year and buy all my family flights and all my ski and beach vacation flights for the next 6 months..including ones I’m not even sure of yet. I also give them to my adult kids as Christmas gifts to pay for them to come see us or join us on trips.

This way I get the cheapest advance purchase fares plus the extra 14% off of my SWA flights. And because there are no cancellation fees, if I have to change the flights in the coming months, I don’t lose anything.

I may, or may not, have also expensed the full value of SWA business flights and made an immediate 16% return.

I’m a rewards nerd, and this is one of the easiest and best deals around. Yes, you still earn all your SWA RapidRewards points, Companion Pass credits and A List credits, though you do give up the Chase SWA Visa bonus. It’s just 1x points on the purchase because it’s Costco instead of 4x direct SWA purchase.
