I knew one of the officers tragically killed last week and from the start I had apprehensions about cell photo footage surfacing and the impact it might have on so many people I know, who knew him personally.
In scrolling through FB a few moments ago I saw a post containing a Daily Mail story about just such footage and the fact that they've confirmed is indeed him. The story clearly states that video shows him running towards the shooter to heroically engage him but I still can't bring myself to watch video linked in the story. I've never had a situation where the death of someone I knew was intimately captured but I never paused at looking at similar arm's length footage before. I know his parents and can't imagine what it must be like to know it's out there.
It made me realize how desensitized humans can become which is unsettling to say the least.
