Wish I could post my bass pics

Put them up Long!

@StrangerHorn I bet you would be a blast to have a beer with. Plenty of good stories, great music and Shiner.

Apologies for calling you “senile” in the past. Ha! You seemed to be a really down to earth person. Again, sorry for my comments. Hope you accept my apology.

You like Jimmie Dale Gilmore? I used to play in a traditional country music band and we covered a few of his songs. Played with David Allen Coe at House of Blues once too. That was a very interesting experience.

See, now that’s what I like to see on this board, real friendships being forged. We should have Coronavirus lockdown year round, it brings out the best in all of us.

Or get an imgur account, upload pics there then post here. Let’s see that 5 lb bass.

Ha! No joke. I know you and I probably disagree on certain things, especially who we root for, but I respect your opinion and and hope you and your family are well. Apologies to you for things I have said in the past.

At the end of the day, I honestly think deep down inside, all we want is what is best for our family and society, but we just have a different idea on how that should be achieved.

Take care during this time. And, I hope your industry gets back on its feet.

Also, my grandfather used to have a monument business in Mineral Wells back in the day, and my brother and I helped him in the summer setting head stones. Man, was that a brutal. I couldn’t imagine being the one actually digging the grave. That must’ve been rough.

Well like I said we were using trackhoes because regular backhoes are too wide to fit between the rows of headstones. Some of the hardest rock I recall was in Wimberley Tx. We may hoeram on one grave for 3 days just to get it to legal depth. Top of the concrete liner had to be 18” below ground

Too bad ya can't shoot them Bell, it would be faster drilling holes and setting a half a stick down the hole, that rocks hard on a Hoe Ram bit, went thru a ;lot of them on my Okida Hydraulic Ram of my Backhoes, bits aren't cheap...

Check it out-- if you have the physical ability to fly to Alaska-- you can easily go bass fishing in Mexico. Guerrero used to be the hot spot-- back in the early 80s. I fished it with my dad and little brother in the late 80s along with Sugar lake.

The action now is in the Sierra Madres. Huites, Salto, Comederro, Picachos-- I've fished them all. It's a piece of cake getting down there. Hop on aeromexico and head to either Mazatlan or Los Moches and the guide picks you up. You don't even need to bring tackle. Of course I bring my own sh!t but I'm young and don't mind hauling sh!t to the airport. But all you need to do is show up to your flight and they'll pick you up and provide the ride to a from-- a nice bed, tons of food, and fishing tackle along with a guide.

You'll never catch more bass in one day in your life. My father and I on Picachos, day 3, between daybreak and lunch, caught almost a hundred and fifty bass. He never switched lures. He used a freaking bone colored Pop-R and was absolutely slaying them. Ya-- a top water all morning and into the noon hour. Time of your life.

I've watched that fifty times and pissed myself twice with laughter. Can we sign that dude up to play running back? When the fuzz can't nab you, you've got something special.

Reminds me of an old war story. Back in my gang unit days I was cruising the hood one afternoon when one of the district cops calls out "Nora 336 foot pursuit, S/B from my location, suspect description...etc..." Since I was only a short distance away I started rolling towards the call. It's about 30 seconds maybe when I turn a corner and see the officer straddling the suspect in the middle of the street. I call out on scene and position my black and white to block traffic and then run to help. When I get to the officer, we cuff the suspect and roll him over and he's just muttering....."I can't believe I got caught by a white cop..." True enough, the cop who had called out in pursuit was lily white....about 5'10" maybe 155-165....he was also a Marine and tri-athlete who held our academy record for the mile and half run.....

So he didn't have the speed, but he had the stamina?

About 8 years agi I stacked the back tank on my farm with 300 gallons of fat head minnows. Five years ago I stocked the same tank with 50,000 Florida strain fingerling bass. Two days ago my daughter caught an 8 pounder and there are even bigger in that tank.
But I still prefer saltwater fishing.

what do you care Doc....let your daughter catch em all....both of you will be happy!

I had a place near Charlotte Texas and had a fair sized tank. I went to a hatchery close to there and got a bunch of shiners and blue gills. The bass were already there. I let those big air filled sacks sit in the water for about an hour to let the temperature regulate so those shiners would not come out confused. ( the last thing you want to be is swimming into bass infested waters confused if you are a shiner.) I started dumping those bags and the water absolutely exploded around me. One shiner jumped a foot out of the water and a bass came up and swallowed him! I ran down about 50 yards to where I had the bluegills and dumped them out and the same thing!...I just sat down and thought....damn! a $300.00 fish dinner and I didn't get a bite.

Lol! I forgot to mention that I drained that tank and refilled it before I stocked it. Makes a big difference. Also, the tank has some really nice catfish in it. Birds helping out.

Lol! IMO, the only thing edible out of freshwater is catfish. Saltwater, on the other hand, has the big three - trout, redfish and flounder,
Besides, the tank is for my grandkids mostly.

Well maybe down here in South texas-- however, if I may--- every winter here in New Braunfels, TP&W stocks the Guadalupe River with rainbow trout and I can assure you, freshly caught rainbow trout, grilled with a little lemon butter and fresh cracked pepper will make you slap yo momma. I've been trying to get Fresh to grab his kayak and meet me at the second crossing for a while now.

I prefer fried mullet and croaker but that’s just me.

Bell....you say mullet for a laugh, but in Florida it is considered a delicacy....a vegiterian fish after all. I have eaten lots of croaker as that seemed to be all I ever caught. I agree with Doc about flounder, reds and trout, but if you have ever been to Kings Inn you will discover that fried black drum is about as good as it ever gets.

Do you have any idea how to make the Kings Inn "tarter sauce"? I would love to be able to make something similar. That stuff is outstanding.
