There is way too much detail available for me to parse out what's relevant to me during my 2 day google research. So, I reach out to OB.

I have google fiber at home, and the Network Box (wifi router; upstairs) has terrible signal strength. I have cat 5e wired around the house that is run through an unmanaged switch. I have purchased two Ubiquiti Nano wireless access points that I will place in two diff parts of the house. I will turn off the wi-fi on the OEM router.

So to sum up, I have a router that connects to a switch, and then the other parts of the house are directly wired from this switch.

My living room (downstairs) has a few devices I want to use ethernet connection. Can I put another unmanaged switch in the living room (so a switch connected after the initial switch)? One of the devices I will connect to this 2nd switch is 1 of the Ubquiti wireless access points.

The other WAP will sit upstairs in another room that is directly connected to the 1st switch.

I also want to use the same SSID for both WAPs, so that steering/hand off is seamless. There is a desktop software controller specific to Ubiquiti which might be needed to do this, as opposed to the basic functionality on the mobile app. Anyone familiar with the product?

A lot of my question is centered around google fiber's lack of flexibility, as I HAVE to use their router (technically it can be replaced, but it was beyond my scope). Anyhow, I can just turn off the Wi-Fi on the router, and set up logically? Is it as simple as I think it is?
