Dear diary…🤣

26 years ago I entered Air Force active duty in Dallas as a Security Forces Airman. Today, I retired as a Major and Intel officer from the Indiana Air National Guard.

A lot of things happened between those book ends. I was an idiot junior enlisted kid that did and said an absolute crap ton of dumb things. I’m lucky to be alive, let alone get commissioned. I’ve supported warfighters on four continents in one way or another.

Wearing the uniform has been the privilege of a lifetime and I’m so grateful to have been able to do it for as long as I have. It’s kind of weird as I took the uniform off today, but as a guard guy, tomorrow is just another day and back to the day job.

To all my brothers and sisters in arms: THANK YOU for your service and sacrifices. You are heroes. Through the suck and through the bullshit, you are heroes.

To my fellow citizens that either didn’t have opportunity to serve or chose to do other things: THANK YOU for your continued support of our military. We all have ideological differences and viewpoints and that’s one of the things that makes so great as a nation. I’m so grateful that we’ve been pretty united as a practice that our service members deserve much more than they have received at certain points in our history.

Thanks!
