OT: Longhorn Old Timers Quiz

I'll play. Don't remember Rowdy's given name, but I think the cook was Wishbone.

you got the cook CA and Rowdy was Clint Eastwoodd!..Winner! Winner! Chicken Dinner!

Miss the old days where the whole house use to shut down to watch Bonanza and the Ed Sullivan show...etc in black and white with the flag and Natl Anthem at mid-nite signing off, hell half of the children would die if they had to go back to do what we had to do, no A/C, no cell phones, just the one one the wall in the kitchen or on the desk in hallway, and the most important one , have your butts in the house by 9 to get ready for school...LOL!

It's funny. When you asked for Rowdy's real name, I thought you meant his given name not the name of the actor who portrayed him. What's funny is I knew it was Clint Eastwood because my younger son dated his great niece who regaled us with stories of "Uncle Clint". I agree that there is something comforting about the early days of tv, but I have to admit I really like tv in 2015. So much quality programming available from so many different sources....House of Cards...Man in the High Castle...Homeland...Getting On...Veep...Orange is the New Black...Hell on Wheels. Sometimes the choices are just overwhelming.

One of my pet peeves is this idea that things were better in the past, we need the govt to help the "middle class". Like you said, no ac, 1 phone in the house, which nobody owned, you had to rent it from the phone co. My freshman year, I lived in the old san jac dorm, no ac, shower down the hall, one phone per dorm. I didn't call home for 2 months, my mother had to drive to Austin, how are you? Fine. When did Austin get a 2nd commercial tv station? Nobody I knew had a tv, we had to go to a bar to watch the Arkansas game in 1969. Of course the riot afterward was not to be missed.

I remember bein bucktoothed and skinny, writin fan letters to Sky's niece Penny....

Ok you guys are good. I had forgotten Penny. The obvious Cisco Kid, Hopalong, Lone Ranger, Howdy Doody, Roy Rogers.

But there is one I seriously doubt anyone here experienced. In occupied Germany circa 1955 or 56, a radio show called X-1. No TV at all over there, since the infrastructure was still a work in progress. Just radio. Amos and Andy, and X-1. Sci Fi.

Merry Christmas.

You can still hear X-1 on sirrus xm radio ch. 148.

They play nothing but old radio shows.
