OT: MBB Dunk

Very nice. Except once again Texas got killed on offensive rebounding 22 to 11. Last year Texas out rebounded Arlington on the offensive end 28-10.

Defensively Texas couldn't keep them out of the paint. We can hope Texas gets progressively better, but right now there are glaring weaknesses on the defensive end of the floor. Texas has big athletic guys. I don't really understand why they can't keep teams from getting so many second chance points.

Yes Texas has a couple of big guys but to say their athletic is beyond crazy! One is very slow and the other is out of control. Shaka will get it together in a year or two.

Ridley, Ibeh, Lammert, Cleare = big. Mack, Holland Roach, = athletic. You telling me it's crazy to expect some combination of those 7 guys to stop other teams from abusing Texas on the offensive glass? 22 to 11 dude. Coach Smart doesn't need a year or two to address that.

I expect this team to improve as the season goes on. They'll learn Shaka's system and he will figure out the right lineup combos. This team has a lot of talent you just have to gel it together.

It's hard for me to get a handle on what to expect from UT basketball at this point. I mean, it'd be easy to say "wow, overtime against UTA? that's not a good sign", but UTA actually won at both Memphis and Ohio State this season already. Granted, I don't know if Ohio State is actually good this year, but they have been in the not-too-distant past, as has Memphis.

Beyond that, I have less of a concept of how long it should take, or how reliant on different recruits it will be, for Coach Smart's system to start working to start producing the results we hired him to bring. Should the team be a lot better by the end of the season? Do they need different players to make it work, so it will take a year or two to get them in? What is everyone thinking on this?

But yeah, the dunk was great. And when the team was playing aggressively they looked pretty good. It just wasn't something they did as much early on in the game.
