Read up on some of the stats about the SR71. It gets so hot it actually grows during flight. Like 10 inches. It leaks like a sieve on the runway but at Mach 3.2, those loose fitting panels heat up to 1000 degrees and seal tightly and you've got a legit bullet at that point.

Clob….it is my understanding that the "real stats" about the SR-71 are still classified and may never be released. Rumor has it that it could reach black sky and zero gravity. It did have to take off with very little fuel and immediately have to hit the refueler because it leaked so bad on the ground.

Very good read about an SR71 test pilot who had his bird just disintegrated around him. The turn radius on that bird was 100 miles. Think about that for a moment----
